Saw It, Pinned It, Did It: St. Patty's Day coasters

Well I am linking up with Katie from http://www.mykeepcalmandcarryon.com and Stephanie from http://www.snhblog.com/p/beau.html! I am pretty excited about it because I LOVE pinterest and it's my first time linking up! So I made St. Patrick's Day coasters for our den. They are probably one of the easiest and cheapest (always a good thing in my book!) crafts to make. All you need is: - Bathroom tiles (Can be purchased from Lowes or Home Depot, for about $0.16) - Scrapbook paper - Sponge paint brush (Like the kind you used when you were four) - Mod Podge (I bought the gloss) - Lacquer (look for picture below) - Felt - Hot glue gun - Sissors Step 1: Cut your scrapbook paper to cover the tile perfectly Step 2: Using to sponge brush "paint" on the mod podge onto the tile Step 3: Carefully and quickly place the cut scrapbook paper on top of the modge podge, using your hands to smooth out any air bubbles. Step 4: Using the sponge brush again apply a coat of mod podge on top of the scrapbook paper (it will go on white but dry clear, no worries!) Step 5: Start on the next tile, repeat process and after you finish that tile go back and give the first tile another layer of mod podge (by now it should have dried at least enough to add another layer) Step 6: After you have finished all the tiles you want to make (I usually do 4) let them dry for about 15-20 mins and then take them outside and spray the Lacquer on them. I usually sparay them and let them dry a few minutes and then spray them a few more times. (Make sure you actually do step 6, the modge podge is not enough to protect it from you wet glasses and will become sticky, yuck!) Step 7: Cut the felt into small square pieces and hot glue to all four corners on the back (so it doesn't scratch you coffee table) And that is all, see so simple and you can make them for every holiday pretty much. This would make such a cute gift for someone! I got my scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby in this book: I know it says $19.99 but they ALWAYS have sales going on and if you check online they usually have coupons. This book has every holiday in it so you just buy it one time and can make coasters for every holiday, love it!!

Just a few things

Well obviously I haven't been on here in a few days and that's because my blog is getting a makeover...thanks to a very sweet and talented lady & I am SO excited!! So keep a look out for more updates on my blog makeover :)

But just a few things from the past few days...

1. I recently found out I am going to my first ever hockey game!
This time of year hockey is pretty big with some people & I have never joined in on all the fun but on March 8th I will be!

Go Preds!

2. On spring break we are going on a little road trip!
I am going to Memphis with Matthew and his family for a couple of days, to tour the University of Memphis (for his twin bro Nathan)
Now if you know me then you KNOW I love any kind of road trip. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do.
Anytime I get to pack my Vera Bradley and hit the road I am a happy girl.
So today I am deciding on what all I am going to wear on the trip and then organize my packing list!

3. I bought green skinny jeans yesterday.
I was just stopping by Walmart to get a few things and I just so happened to walk by the woman's section of clothing and there they were.
Right up front & ON SALE. It was a done deal.
They were the exact shade of green I have been looking for and even better they were only $11.00
Seriously?
I have been looking all over for the right shade of green and at a reasonable price (college budget here)
So I immediately found the size I needed and headed straight to the dressing room.
I am not really picky where I buy my clothes from as long they are appropriate and at a reasonable price. (I will search all over for the best price before I buy something)
I left Walmart yesterday with a smile on my face.

4. DUCK DYNASTY RETURNS TONIGHT

As soon as church is over tonight I am jetting back to the house to get cozy and watch the premier of season three!

Will you be watching the premier of season 3 tonight?

Day 6 & 7 of Things I Love

Day 6 of Things I Love: Trying new recipes

Last night I went over to the boyfriends house and his mom had a new recipe for us to try!
I was so excited. His mom is the queen of the kitchen, give her any recipe and she can make it.

She found a recipe for Alfredo Sauce. She put the men to grilling and we stayed in the kitchen! I am not even going to try to take any credit for this because she created the masterpiece as I watched, ha!

 Here is the delicious turnout

and here is the delicious recipe...

INGREDIENTS:

Original recipe makes 4 servings

1/4 cup butter

1 cup heavy cream

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

DIRECTIONS:
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium low heat.
Add cream and simmer for 5 minutes, then add garlic and cheese and
whisk quickly, heating through.
 Stir in parsley and serve.

Then his momma had a small recipe for some bread to go along with the meal

you need

Use half of the cream cheese and a little of the dressing mix.
Mix together in a bowl

and then spread on the bread

then sprinkle Mozzarella cheese on top

throw in the over until cheese melts and that's all!

It turned out SO good and went perfectly with the meal.

Thank you to Matthew's parents for having us for dinner and thank you to his momma for teaching me how to cook this wonderful meal!! I am going to have to add it to my recipe book!!

Day 7 of Things I Love: THE WALKING DEAD

Need I say more?

We started season 1 last Friday night and by Sunday night we had already finished the first season...oops!
Matthew is already on season 3!!!! I haven't watched anymore this week so I will be catching up this weekend.

I must say it is VERY intense and graphic, very very graphic.
I do NOT recommend you watching this around small children, as it has even given me a few nightmare already, ha!

Walkers!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Day 8 of Things I Love: Throwbacks

If you have an Instagram then you are probably caught up on what #tbt is. At first it took me a little bit to get it but now that I know what it is I love it!

Well since today is throwback Thursday I will share this with you...

So really we met when we were four years old at the good ol ball park...talk about throwback!! We were on the same little league team. Matthew is the second one standing up (from left to right). I am in the second row at the very end (right side).

Young love at its finest right here!! ❤

Day 10 of Things I Love

Day 10 of Things I Love: Valentine's Day

I LOVE all holidays but Valentine's Day is up there with my favorites!
Since we were not able to go out on Thursday we went out Saturday night.

The night started out with the beautiful beautiful roses.

We then went to the movies to see Safe Haven

The movie was great. I love Nicholas Sparks movies. Matthew liked it because of Julianne Hough, that's okay Josh Duhamel wasn't looking bad himself ;)
All jokes aside they were perfect for this movie.

I read the book a couple of years ago and instantly fell in love so when I heard they were making a movie I had a countdown going.

After the movie we had dinner at Red Robin..yummmm!

We then came back to my house and I had him go into the other room so I could set up our little romantic dessert!

I found a few tea light candles we had laying around the house and set those up and I found those cute heart glasses at Wal Mart for $1.99. I made his favorite Oreo balls and got his favorite black cherry cola from Kroger.

Perfect Valentine's date with my love.

Day 16 & 15 of Things I Love

I have to start getting better at this!!

Day 16 of Things I Love: cooking/baking

About two years ago at this time the only thing I knew how to "cook" was spaghetti.
Poor Matthew, he would always eat my spaghetti and I'm sure choke it down but bless his heart he did it with a smile every time, ha!

Last New Year (2012)my resolution was to learn how to cook more than just spaghetti
and I think I have accomplished that! I LOVE to find new recipes and just start cooking away.
Again, Matthew is the person who usually is the first one to try my new dish and so far he has liked all of them (or so he said). I pretty much know when he likes something and when he is just being nice :) he's a sweetheart.

I made him his favorite type of muffins for Valentines day...CHOCOLATE CHIP.
He's going to be so excited. I added extra chocolate chips.

I was really tempted to try one.

I found on Pinterest (shocker, right?) a cute way to add color to plain cupcake liners
and of course I had to try it!

All you need:

- white cupcake liners

- food coloring

- water

- bowls for mixing the dye in that are wide enough on the bottom to fit the top of a cupcake liner

It’s pretty simple actually, all you have to do is mix the food coloring in a bowl with some water (use more water for lighter shades) and then dip the top of the cupcake liner in it.

I had to hold each one down like this..

I loved how they turned out and can't wait to try other colors!

Day 15 of Things I Love: LOVE

Cheesy, I know but I just couldn't help it since today is VALENTINE'S DAY

Happy Lovaahs day!

I hope you all had a wonderful day, either with your love of with someone you care about!

Matthew, sadly has a test tomorrow so we are celebrating our THIRD Valentine's Day this Saturday!
Did I mention it's our THIRD Valentine's Day together? I seriously can't believe it's been that long yet I feel like I have known him my whole life.
I am continually amazed by his caring and loving ways. He has a passion for everything he does and funny enough his goals become mine for him because I know how eager he is for them and I am just SO over joyed when he reaches them.

It has been very clear for a long time and each day I am reminded of just how much we love each other.

This was our first Valentine's Day together (2011)

This was last year, our second Valentine's Day together (2012)

Obviously I got a haircut, ha!

Happy Valentine's Day to my perfect Valentine. I love you forever.

Day 17 of Things I Love

Day 17 of Things I Love: Planning

I plan all things out and to be honest I sometimes get a little frustrated when things don't go as planned. I'm working on that!

I LOVE planning anything and everything...birthdays, parties, get together, work meetings..you name it and I'll start planning away.

Here recently I helped plan a baby shower back in September for a coworker and this past Christmas I helped plan a Christmas party at work, so much fun! Also around Christmas time I planned our first annual couples Christmas party. Seriously had the best time with good friends, good food and funny gag gifts!

I have already planned Matthew's Valentine's Day presents and surprises.
I would go on and tell you what it is but Mr. Impatient might get on here and look if he thinks I posted something about his gift on here, ha!

I am also already planning for his 21st birthday, it's not until March 11th but if I don't start now I will not be able to get everything that I want! I honestly think I am more excited for his birthday than he is. Although he did throw out a birthday present suggestion...little does he know I already have it picked out with a few other things,ha!

I will more than likely post about his birthday so watch for it closer to time!

what events do you plan?

Day 19 & 18 of Things I Love

Day 19 of Things I Love: Cricut

Here recently I have became obsessed with the Cricut. I have been doing as much research on it as I can. I am SO excited to start working on it and creating new and cute things!

It is actually my mom's machine so yesterday she gave me a little lesson on how to use it and this is what we made...

We used the cartridge Celebrate with Flourish

Love this one! It has everything to do with holidays.

We have the Cricut Expression

Like I said I am still learning.
Make sure to keep checking back as I will post about my learning process on this
wonderful machine.
