WEEKEND RECAP | EVELYN'S BABY SHOWER

Saturday I helped host a baby shower for my best friend, Kathleen. She is due with her sweet baby GIRL, Evelyn, at the end of September....so close!!

We set everything up on Friday afternoon and finished a couple of things up on Saturday morning before it started. While looking for a cute backdrop idea I cam across a new business on Facebook offering beautiful backdrops, and it just so happened to be two sweet girls we went to high school with. After a few messages we booked them for the baby shower. We were SO stinkin' excited for the beautiful backdrop. It matched our theme/colors absolutely perfectly.

Look at my beautiful best friend....and mom-to-be!

Isn't she glowing?!

The cake/dessert table was in the very center of the room and it was adorable!
Look at these cookies!!! Aren't they beautiful?! They were delicious, too!

The gift table

The food table. It was from 10am-12pm, so we went with brunch style finger foods. So delicious!
My dad and I made a cutout of Evelyn's name...meaning my dad did the most of it, ha!

Sign in table. We also had guest address an envelope to themselves to 'help to busy mom-to-be'

The centerpieces on the tables we very simple and cute! We had a vintage plate with a big mason jar on top with some simple flowers. Kathleen's aunt had the cutest idea, to wrap headbands around the mason jars...aren't they so cute?! We also sprinkled some baby pictures of the mom-to-be and dad-to-be around the shower.

Here is the backdrop. Like I said, it tied in perfectly with our theme/colors. Kathleen opened her gifts in front of it and we made a ton of pictures in front of it. The flowers are made out of CARD STOCK. Also, side note, that bassinet pictured below has been in their family for around 65 years! It was the perfect prop and had such a sweet meaning to their family.

The best friends a girl could ask for!
Every wedding shower, wedding, and now baby shower, we have made this picture...best friend and our mom's! We have all truly grown up together and I just LOVE them.

One of Kathleen's adorable nieces...I just love her whole family.

Now the countdown is on until we get all the baby lovin'!

ALDI DINNER IDEAS | CHINESE MEAL AT HOME

We have been shopping at Aldi for over a year now and we are still LOVING it. There are so many things that I love at Aldi, that I will one day post about (#aldifavorites), but today I wanted to share one of our go to meals from Aldi's. It is easy, cheap and makes for a quick clean up.

- General Tso's chicken
- White rice
- Mixed vegetables + edamame

The chicken takes about 20 minutes to cook, I boil the mixed vegetables, and the edamame can be steamed in the microwave...in the bag it comes in (my FAV). We usually cook one bag of chicken at a time and it is enough for 3 meals. If we want more leftovers for the week we'll make two bags.

You just can't beat easy and delicious meal ideas, especially when they are budget friendly!

LIFE LATELY | JULY 2018

A little over a month ago Matthew and packed up our house and moved in with his parents for three weeks so that we could have our floors done (!!!!!). On June 22nd my BIL, Nathan, came over and helped us move all of our furniture into our garage and then helped us pull up all the old flooring (laminate and carpet). It was a reallllllly long and exhausting day, but we got most of it done by late that afternoon. Matthew and I finished the remaining up on Sunday.

That Saturday (the 23rd.) Matthew and I went and picked up our hardwood. It was extremely heavy, but it was exciting and we knew we were getting close to having the beautiful new floors that we had been saving up for.

Matthew's parents so graciously let us stay with them and fed us for a little over three weeks. We are so thankful for them and for that time we got to spend with them over those three weeks. As expected, there were setbacks and things didn't get finished by deadlines. We went by the house almost every day to check on the progress and got more and more excited as time went on. We got to move back into our house on our anniversary (7/18). Such a sweet day!

I haven't had time to take some good pictures of our house since we have had all of furniture moved back in and our house officially put back together, but I did take pictures each time we came to check on the house during those three weeks, to document the process.

My office

 One of the guest bedrooms
 Our bedroom
 Upstairs hallway
 Our closet

 Guest bedroom

And our garage, where we moved all of our furniture to. This is when they had it only half full. I never got around to taking a picture when the garage was completely full.

Some pictures of when they started laying the hardwood and laying the tile

We had tile put down in our master bathroom, guest bathroom and laundry room and we LOVE it. This is the tile we chose.

We are so excited to have our floors done. We have been wanting to do this since the day we bought our house, so worth the wait! We also decided that we want to paint all the baseboards and trim in our house. We painted all the trim and baseboards downstairs last week and we are going to start upstairs next week. It takes some time, but we are just taking it one room at a time. The stairs were the hardest to do, but they look so much better now that it's finished.

3 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

Three years ago, on July 18th, my world stopped turning and everyone I love was in the same place. I got to stand in front of the love of my life and we were given the gift of marriage. My eyes still well up with tears when I hear the songs that were played that day....the way the art of music and photography transcend time is something I think God for. When I see these photos and I hear these songs I can close my eyes and be there in that moment with him. Wrapped in his arms, wearing white and becoming his wife. Happy anniversary, Matthew! Being your wife is the greatest joy of my life. I adore you!
