Hello! I am Shelby - the wife behind Life as the Coats.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Matthew, and I'm a fur mama to our adorable puppy, Reagan. I was born and raised in Tennessee and my husband moved here when he was a child. We have planted roots here in Nashville and now call it home. I work in corporate Healthcare and my husband is a CPA. When I'm not working you can find me cooking/baking, planning our next dinner party, brushing up on my calligraphy, organizing our home, reading, or taking too many pictures of my puppy.
A deeper look into our story...
I met my husband when we were almost five years old, you can read all about that (here), and I met him again in early spring of 2010, at church...my junior year of high school. You can read more on that (here). In 2013 I moved to Cookeville where I lived with two of my friends for a year and then moved into my own apartment for another year. After dating for 5 years, Matthew proposed to me in the middle of Tennessee Tech's campus a few days before Christmas. That story (here).
7 months later, on one of the hottest days that summer, we said "I do" in front of our family and friends. (wedding posts here).
We lived in a small, but cozy, one bedroom apartment for the first 6 months of our marriage (#CoatsApartment), before purchasing our first house (#TheCoatsHome)! We have had the best time making this house our home together. From painting almost the whole house to building a 10ft farmhouse table, we are slowly making it ours. To see more updates and projects check here (#TheCoatsHomeSeries).
In October of 2016 we brought home our sweet girl, #ReaganCoats. She has the sweetest demeanor and is the definition of a lap dog. If you're around here much, you'll quickly see, we are obsessed with our fur baby.
