8 weeks of training
is all coming to an end today!
Can you believe that?! I feel like I just found out I got hired and now 8 weeks later I am about to get my own cubicle and start taking calls all day everyday.
Time is flying by, y'all!!
Some things I have learned over the past 8 weeks in the customer service area...
1. The customer is always right.
It doesn't matter that my screen is showing me that the freight picked up on the 4th the customer swears it was picked up on the 2nd.
2. Military time
I have never had to use this so it was foreign to me when we started out but I have it down pretty good now
it is 23:19 right now...what what!
3. Accents
I am from the south, I have always lived in the south and Lord willing I will always live in the south.
I honestly don't think I would survive up north, nothing against the north I just like the south better but that's for another post.
but accents, seriously sometimes I can't understand people from the north and I have to have them repeat it about 5 times AND they can't understand me and they tell me "oh you must be from the south" UH YES I AM. I never knew how different we sounded....and apparently my southern accent is heavy when I am on the phone or so I have been told, ha!
4. Lost freight or damaged freight
Those two terms are pretty much as bad as cuss words at work.
If you hear a customer say that on the phone put your earpiece down and run as fast as you can...just kidding but that is usually what I want to do.
I mean would you want to tell someone that WE lost their freight that they were supposed to have received yesterday?
Do you want someone screaming in your ear that their freight was damaged?
Let's just say I spend most of my mornings and breaks at work praying for patience.
5. Freight
I never really thought of this until I started working here but everything is freight.
The clothes you are wearing had to get to that Boutique some how, The lawnmower you use to cut your grass had to get to Lowe's some how.
Y'all we even move dead bodies to a university for research.
Gag me with a plastic spoon.
I will never forget my first call with this.
The man calling in kept joking around saying "oh he weighs about 300lbs" and so on.
Ya girl was creeped out.
and last but not least
6. Customers
About 85% of my calls are nice customers and let me just tell you they make my day 100 x's better!
I have already started to get to know my customers that call in everyday.
If you are nice, understanding and patient I am going to want to help you that much more, I'm not saying I don't help the rude customers as much as I can but seriously the nice customer make it so much more enjoyable.
Overall I LOVE my job and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the people I work with.
There are 16 of us that have been together for the past 8 weeks for 8 hours a day and we have all grown pretty close, honestly I am pretty sad training is over because I know almost all of us are going to be split up and we won't be able to see each other all the time.
It's almost like graduating from high school again.
Tomorrow will be bittersweet but I am looking forward to all the new exciting things that will be coming up!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, it looks like we are in for a lot of rain so I am hoping to get some lazy rainy naps in this weekend!
Happy Friday, friends!!
I think it's so funny that you talked about the North and accents. I've been told by people "from the South" that I have a "Canadian" accent yet people from Canada (like Northern Canada) say I don't. I hope you'd be able to understand me!
