WEEKEND RECAP | FATHER'S DAY + WEDDING SHOWER

Friday night after work we headed to Murfreesboro to meet my parents for dinner at one of our favorite pizza places. After dinner we came back to the house and Ethan, Rachel and Carson came over to stay the night!

Saturday morning we woke up and I made Carson some eggs and toast and Matthew made everyone omelettes! We worked on cleaning and getting the house ready all day for the wedding shower that we were hosting that afternoon for my BIL and his fiance, Christina. It was a very small family wedding shower and we had a great time.

Please notice my mugs on the mantel in this next picture...my other BIL, Nathan, rearranged them to spell 'Tacos" instead of "Coats" and I definitely didn't notice it until later that night after everyone was gone lol.

Thankfully the rain held off until Sunday so these fur babies were able to get out in the backyard and run some energy out and play together!

Nathan stayed the night with us and after everyone left we made a quick trip to Lowe's so I could get my dad two succulents to go with his Father's Day gift. I loved them so much that I almost kept them for myself, ha! I will definitely be going back to get myself some, they had a ton of different ones that I loved!

Sunday we went to church with Matthew's parents and then met my parents after for lunch. After lunch we hung out at my parents house for most of the afternoon. My dad was pumped about his new succulents and is planting on repotting them this week.

We went to church with Matthew's parents Sunday night and then to dinner at a local place in town and it was delicious!! And they were letting all father's eat for free, such a fun and sweet surprise!

We had a great weekend with both of our families and are already looking forward to next weekend.  I am excited to share a project with you all tomorrow that we've been planning and working on for some time now!!

Father's Day crafts

Did you know that I used to work at a daycare?
I was the infant teacher to 8 beautiful babies (miss them like crazy!!)
This time last year I was working at the daycare but searching for a bank job. Little did I know one of the babies in my room would lead me to my job now. The little brown eyed girl's mom worked at BOA and asked me if I knew anyone who wanted a part time job at the bank....lkjlskdgvusidvh WHAT????!!!
DID SHE KNOW I HAD JUST APPLIED TO LIKE 10 BANKS?!!
and the rest was history.
Well this time last year I was searching ideas on Pinterest for Father's Day coming up. Sure there were PLENTY of projects to do with TODDLERS but hardly any to do with infants.
I was frustrated and about to just make a card for the dad's but then I remembered this was most of their dad's first EVER Father's Day...one they will always remember...no pressure, eh?
So I racked my brain and finally came up with a few things
Project #1
Babies 1st Father's Day Craft
I traced their hands...while they were sleeping.
Sneaky Miss.Shelby
Babies 1st Father's Day poem
Project #2
Father's Day footprint craft
Did you know that if you do foot prints when it's their bottle time it will make it easier to do?
Obviously a 4 month old is not going to stand on a piece of paper and make a perfect foot print. So what I did was sit them in their high chair and take the piece of paper and clip it on a clipboard and then paint their foot, then with one hand press the clipboard to their foot while holding their foot up against the paper with the other hand.
Father's Day poem

It might not turn out perfect the first time and you might have to go through 5 pieces of paper but it's okay.
It's the thought that counts...remember?
See it looks like lil Mason only has 4 toes on his left foot.
Project #3
Do the foot print again (maybe try on their next feeding...promise it works)
and to make the polka dots use their finger.
I used poster board so it would be thicker and not tear once the paint was added.

Make sure to get a picture of them with it on like the poem says!
Hope this gave you some new ideas for Father's Day next Sunday!!

Father's Day Crafts

Below are a few different ideas for Father's Day coming up! There are a ton of different ideas out there, but here are just a couple that I found that I liked the most.

I work in a daycare...I have ages 8 weeks to 12 months old.
The most I can do is footprints and handprints and as you probably know babies like to keep their hands in a fist so I mostly stick to foorprints when dealing with paint. I do try to trace their hands occasionally but I have learned a trick....I have traced all the babies hands and I saved that and just use it for every project so I don't have to keep tracing and keep tracing. With 8 babies all on their own schedules this just saves time.

Father's Day project #1

I did pink for the girls and green for the boys.

The cute poem I found online!

Father's Day project #2

The front
Just use washable paint and make a footprint and then use
the tips of their fingers to make the polka dots.

The back

The saying on the back

Daddy,
I made this tie just for you to wear on your special day with love...
from my tiny fingers to the tips of my toes.
Now put it on and let's get a picture together,
so we can look back later in years and remember our first Father's Day together!

I traced the original copy of the tie on a piece of poster board
so it would be thick enough to hold paint and not tear.

Father's Day project #3

The cute saying I put at the bottom.

The finished project!

Most of the Daddy's in my classroom are first time daddy's
it's the sweetest thing ever seeing them get excited when just talking about it.
Happy Early Father's Day to my sweet and hard working daddy and all the other Daddy's out there.
Enjoy your special day!
