MOVING WEEKEND

Our movers showed up around 9:30 Saturday morning. We had all the storage totes and small pieces of furniture (end tables and console tables) ready for them to take in the living room and all that was left was the big furniture. FIVE hours later we had all of our furniture delivered to our house and in their respective rooms. We weren't planning on it taking five hours, but there wasn't really anything we could do about it. Matthew and I both felt like it was still worth it in the end!

Matthew's dad snapped this picture of us while the movers were unloading something inside really quickly lol.

In a way to try and help things move along Matthew and I unloaded a few of the smaller things

Once some of the furniture started coming in we got really excited to see stuff in the house, finally.

At the time we were still trying to decide how we wanted to position everything so we just told them to put it down and we would decide later.

After the movers and our family was gone we decided to run to Home Depot and get a few things.
The day ended with this perfect sunset. We seriously could not get over the weather we had Saturday...all weekend actually! It was unusually warm for the end of January and felt like Spring. We were LOVING it!!

Sunday we went to church and then made another stop at Lowe's for more things!

My family came over that afternoon and helped with some things around the house and to drop off my new car! Since I am doing an employee lease through my dad's work then they had another car ready for me since mine was wrecked. I got a new Altima!!  So far I am loving it.

About an hour after dinner I started feeling bad and about an hour later I got really sick. I can't remember the last time I threw up, but I definitely made up for it all night and into Monday morning. I didn't go to work yesterday since I was so sick so I stayed home and mostly slept all day long since I was up so much the previous night. By yesterday afternoon I was feeling much better and was able to eat spaghetti. I ate a small amount and waited to see if I was going to get sick but never did so I ate a little bit more and was fine- thank goodness!! I am guessing it was food poisoning from dinner, we had Arby's. So it looks like we won't be going to Arby's anytime soon lol.

We still have a lot of unpacking to do, but we're just taking it one day at a time! We have to turn out apartment keys in this Friday, and thankfully we only have a few small things left over there that we'll get this week. I'm going to be completely honest and say that it felt like we were staying the night in someone else's house on our first night at the house lol. And the second night I was sick so last night was our third night and it was much better. I can't wait to have everything unpacked and in it's new place! We still don't have internet or cable, and they said they wouldn't be able to come out until this Saturday to fix it for us. I didn't realize how much we use internet until we don't have it!!

And because I love giving things a hashtag, you can follow along with any house related posts with the hashtag of #TheCoatsHome

TOUR OF OUR NEW HOME

I'm so excited to share this post with y'all today! We knew the house was a little outdated in some some rooms and that if we bought this house we would have some work to do, but honestly that's exactly what we wanted. We wanted something that we could do some work on but not something that was going to make us the next Chip and Joanna Gaines. So with that being said, here is our house! We are so excited to begin working on our house and take it room by room.

The entryway
It's a two story entryway and Matthew's first words when he saw the entryway was "this is the perfect place for a 12ft tall Christmas tree." I was one proud wife! ;)

 Study and dining room
Around the stairs is the study. Some people use it as a formal living room, but we don't want to have a formal living room. So we decided to make it Matthew's office.

Dining Room
Connected to the dining room and kitchen is the dining room. That wallpaper will be coming down within the next two weeks ;) I am in love with the wainscoting. So pretty!

Up next is the kitchen!

Again, this wall paper is coming down very soon! The kitchen and dining room are where we are going to do quite a bit of work. We are so excited to redo the kitchen!

Living Room
We plan on taking that half wall down so the entrance into the living room isn't so small.

So excited we have a fireplace, and I am loving those 3 big windows!! So much natural light pouring in.

Not pictured downstairs:
Around the corner from the kitchen is a small storage closet, half bath and a entrance to the garage.

Upstairs:

There are 3 guest bedrooms that all look just like this. We are so excited to have family and friends be able to stay with us now!! One guest bedroom will be my office and I will finally be able to put my new desk somewhere!!

Guest bathroom

Master bedroom

Master Bathroom
Double vanity, actual vanity, and water closet...I was SOLD.

Through the door on the left is our walk in closet! Woo hoo for having a bigger closet!

Not picture upstairs:
Linen closet and laundry room

Our backyard
It's a decent size yard and it's fenced in! The sellers left their trampoline lol.

And that's our house! We are so excited and so grateful for the opportunity to have a home of our own! We keep telling each other we can't believe we have a house, but we do! We feel like it was just yesterday he was picking me up for our first date and here we are almost 6 years later, married and just bought our first house! So incredibly blessed to be doing life with Matthew.

SAUSAGE ROLL UPS - BREAKFAST

Well it's already Wednesday. We are halfway through the first work week of the year. I have gotten a lot accomplished at work each day this week and it feels SO good!

Here is a really simple recipe that I got from my mom. She made these this past Christmas and we had them for breakfast on Christmas Eve and they were so good that Matthew kept asking for me to make them. So I made them this past Saturday morning for breakfast and we ended up having leftovers for Sunday mornings breakfast as well. I shared the steps on my Snap Chat (shelbycoats) and had a lot of friends say how easy and good it looked. So I took screenshots from my Snap Chat to share with y'all today!

Here are the 5 easy steps!
And that's it! I like to dip mine in mustard, Matthew likes to eat his plain and my dad likes to dip his in grape jelly.

A few things:

- I buy name brand crescent rolls, store brand crescent rolls are so hard to work with!
- Cook the sausage first! This takes about 10 minutes, not long at all.
- I let them bake anywhere from 12-14 mins, or until crescent rolls are golden.

NEW YEARS WEEKEND RECAP

2016 is already off to a great start! We had the best weekend together doing a whole bunch of nothing. Just kidding, we did do some stuff just without an agenda. Y'all, those are the best kinds of weekends. No where to be and no set plans. I just LOVE doing life with Matthew.

I'll recap our big NYE.... ;) Matthew had to work on New Years Day so we decided not to go out on New Years Eve, and I can't say I was too sad about it. Staying in and ordering a pizza sounded more than okay with me! Winter has finally arrived (low to mid 50's lol) so I definitely didn't want to stand out in the cold all night. I made cheese dip and we ordered a pizza- simple and relaxing! We took all of our Christmas decorations down and I cleaned the apartment as soon as I got home on Thursday afternoon.. It feels so good having our place back in order. Clean and tidy! We watched a movie and the live concerts on t.v. and fell asleep by 11:30. I really am an old lady trapped in a younger lady's body. This was the first year I haven't stayed up to see the ball drop, but that's okay!
I did get a picture though! Comfy pj's and all :)

Matthew had to work most of the day on Friday, but I was off. So I meal planned and went grocery shopping. One of my goals for 2016 (sharing those sometime this week!) is to cook more and eat out less. Saving money and learning and finding more recipes. I really am loving being in the kitchen more. I also went jean shopping! My old pair finally made it to the trash and I have been in need of some new ones for a good bit now. Surprisingly enough I buy my jeans at Wal-Mart. The past few pair have came from there and they lasted me a long time (a little over 2 years) and I was very pleased with their fit and style. Before grocery shopping I went to the jeans section and found two pair that I really liked. I also really liked the price tag on them! $17 for a pair of jeans? I'll take that any day! I have spent hundreds of dollars on jeans at Buckle and other name brand places and honestly, I like these just as much if not even better! And if I get a hole in them or something were to happen then I would be out $17 and not $110 for a pair of jeans. I still can't believe I used to pay that for one pair. Okay, rant over lol.

Friday night I tried a new recipe and it turned out pretty good! I was excited to make black eyed peas for the "New Years Day tradition" and completely bought the wrong thing. I accidentally bought pinto beans. So much for my good luck lol Matthew definitely got a HUGE kick out of this and we laughed a good bit about my little ole pinto beans.

Saturday morning I tried a new and really easy recipe I got from my mom. I'll share it soon. Season 6 of Parenthood is now on Netflix so we watched a few episodes and then got ready and headed out for the day. We looked around at some furniture stores just for the heck of it and found this new place called Southern Salvage, Nashville friends, if you haven't been there then you need to go ASAP. As soon as we walked in Matthew said,  "Oh boy, what did I get myself in to?" LOL we loved that store and spent a good hour in there. We walked out empty handed but we were definitely eyeing some nice pieces!! We came back home and watched even more Parenthood and then decided to go to dinner and a movie. I love spontaneous date nights!! I love spontaneous date nights even better when we have a gift card for dinner ;) We saw the last Hunger Games movie and both really liked it! We had forgotten a lot of stuff from the last one so when this new one comes out we are planning on having a Hunger Games movie marathon.

I have ALWAYS wanted a monogram necklace but always told myself I would wait until we were married. Well my mom and sister surprised me with this for Christmas and I LOVE it! I also love this new shirt I got for Christmas. It's actually mint it just doesn't look like it here lol. I really like the details on it and the way it fits. Comfy but still cute.

Saturday night and Sunday I worked on my goals...kind of.
I haven't finished making my goals yet, but I'm not stressed out about it. Last year I wanted all my goals made out and written down a few weeks before the new year. I stressed about it and then just felt silly, so this year I'm taking my time.

I'm excited about 2016, I feel like it's going to be a good year!
