Sister weekend-recap

On Friday I mentioned in a brief post that my sisters were coming to stay the weekend with me in Cookeville. They were very excited and I was as well.
Friday, I met my family for dinner and to get the girls. We came back to Cookeville and watched the second half of Matthew's softball game. We made a stop by the store for some treats and then headed back to my apartment for the night.
We got our pj's on and went out on my back deck to play cards. I lost count of how many times we played go fish :)

I let the girls sleep in my bed and seriously, it made their night lol. It was the cutest thing!

I got all of them up early for a surprise. Donuts at Big O's!

Right after breakfast we headed to surprise #2

Burgess Falls
We spent the morning hiking to see the falls and the girls loved seeing the waterfalls but didn't love the heat. We got there around 10 but it was still very hot!

After Burgess Falls we made a drink stop at Sonic to cool off! We went back to my apt and watched Parent Trap while I straightened up the apt some. We had lunch at Sub Way and then went to Hobby Lobby to look for some fabric for my headboard! Our parents were coming up that afternoon and my dad was bringing my headboard! It took FOREVER to find fabric that I liked and that matched but I finally found it! We went back to my apt and waited for my parents to get there.

Once my parents got there my dad and I started working on my headboard. If you are following me on Instagram then you have already seen it if not I will be posting about it this week (woo hoo!)
I will also be posting an update on my apt soon also, I LOVE how it is all coming together!

Here is a little preview of my headboard...

sister weekend

Well, I survived my first week back to wok from vacation! The first week back is always the worst y'all, but it's finally the weekend!!

This afternoon when I get off I am meeting my family halfway way between here and home for dinner and to pick up my sisters! They are coming up to stay the night and spend all day Saturday. My parents are coming up tomorrow afternoon to get them and help me with some projects around my apartment! My dad has cut out the frame of my headboard and I am SO excited!

I have a few things planned to do with the girls and I'm pretty excited!
I got a call from a very excited 9 year old last night about coming to stay the weekend with her big sister. She told me she already had her bags packed and had a list of things for us to do. :)
LOVE that little nugget!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!!

Seaside, Florida

We stayed in Sandestin, Florida which was about 20 minutes away from Seaside, Florida, so I knew I wanted to drive down there one afternoon and see the town I have heard so much about.
This little town was absolutely incredible. I honestly wanted to pack up my apartment and move down there after about five minutes of walking around. I'm not really sure how to describe it other than it was adorable and full of life. Everyone seemed like they were right at home.
Here are some of the pictures I made but I promise they don't do this this little town justice.

The houses were adorable and full of southern charm

Have you ever been to Seaside?
I told my parents next time we go to Florida we HAVE to stay there.

Where I've been

You may or may not have noticed things have been a little quite around here. Well, that's because I was on vacation. My toes were in the sand everyday for the past week and I was LOVING it.

Friday when I clocked out I was officially on vacation. I headed back to my apartment to finish packing. Matthew's softball game was cancelled so I was able to clean the WHOLE apartment before I left.
Saturday I had my first massage ever, I had a gift card for it and have been putting it off and finally decided to use it. I can't believe I waited almost 22 years to get one!  Then after my massage I met my mom and sisters to get our nails done, it's a little tradition we have, to get our nails done before we leave for vacation and I love it! It was the perfect day to relax before we headed to Florida the next day.

We left bright and early Sunday morning around 5:00. It is an eight hour drive to Destin but we stopped for breakfast and coffee. We still had good timing and didn't run into any traffic!
I drove my car and Mady rode with me

We finally made it to Florida and had to get a picture with the sign

This was the view from our balcony...

and this was the view on the opposite side..

We had the best time. It was the longest time I have spent with my family since moving out so it was good to be with them, I was definitely missing my alone time towards the end of the trip, ha!
Matthew wasn't able to go on this trip, he was studying away and taking the second part of the CPA test back home.

These beach bums were loving it! It was so fun watching them in the waves and playing in the sand.

I read two books last week. The Fault in Our Stars...I finished it in a day and a half and was crying like a two year old on the beach when I finished. I also read Crazy Love again!

I made dinner for everyone one night. All of us sitting around the table with the balcony doors opened listening to the waves crash in the background was so peaceful.

Daddy rented a Kayak almost everyday and it was great! We saw dolphins, stingrays, jellyfish and a ton of other weird looking fish. I will have to say the stingray definitely gave me a scare. We saw a ton of small ones but when we came up on the mom or dad it was definitely the biggest one I have ever seen. They also move REALLY fast so that definitely freaked me out even more. The dolphins were so fun to watch. Everyone was really surprised they came up so close to shore.

I got back to Cookeville Sunday afternoon and finally got to see Matthew! A little sonic date after church was the perfect ending to my vacation.
Being on vacation was fun and very much needed but it's good to be back on a regular routine. I am missing the beach VERY much though. I am trying to talk Matthew into finding an accounting firm to work at down there once he graduates so we can have those views all the time ;)

I'll post more tomorrow about our trip!
