Sister weekend-recap

On Friday I mentioned in a brief post that my sisters were coming to stay the weekend with me in Cookeville. They were very excited and I was as well.
Friday, I met my family for dinner and to get the girls. We came back to Cookeville and watched the second half of Matthew's softball game. We made a stop by the store for some treats and then headed back to my apartment for the night.
We got our pj's on and went out on my back deck to play cards. I lost count of how many times we played go fish :)

I let the girls sleep in my bed and seriously, it made their night lol. It was the cutest thing!

I got all of them up early for a surprise. Donuts at Big O's!

Right after breakfast we headed to surprise #2

Burgess Falls
We spent the morning hiking to see the falls and the girls loved seeing the waterfalls but didn't love the heat. We got there around 10 but it was still very hot!

After Burgess Falls we made a drink stop at Sonic to cool off! We went back to my apt and watched Parent Trap while I straightened up the apt some. We had lunch at Sub Way and then went to Hobby Lobby to look for some fabric for my headboard! Our parents were coming up that afternoon and my dad was bringing my headboard! It took FOREVER to find fabric that I liked and that matched but I finally found it! We went back to my apt and waited for my parents to get there.

Once my parents got there my dad and I started working on my headboard. If you are following me on Instagram then you have already seen it if not I will be posting about it this week (woo hoo!)
I will also be posting an update on my apt soon also, I LOVE how it is all coming together!

Here is a little preview of my headboard...

Friday letters

Dear Friday, you came quickly, but I promise I'm not complaining! Dear apartment D, it's been fun but last night was my last night there. I am moving on to my own apartment this weekend!!!!! Dear Matthew, I am so proud of you work working so hard this week on you summer class, I know it's not anywhere near fun or a "summer" for you but it will be worth it and you are going to DOMINATE that first test in TWELVE days!!!! Also thank you for moving my stuff into my new apartment while I am away this weekend, and thank you for my new toaster!! It matches my crock pot perfectly!! you are THE best!

Dear rain, please go away, ya girl needs some vitamin D in her life and I don't want to drive four hours tonight in the rain. Dear new apartment, I AM SO EXCITED TO FINALLY MOVE IN, have I mentioned that already? Dear packing, you have made me realize I am a hoarder, not as in I could be on the T.V. show but I do keep useless stuff because I might want to make a craft out of it later. Not anymore!
(this isn't even all of it, there are more boxes in my room)
Dear little old lady at Food Lion, thank you for giving me a car load of boxes fo free so that I could pack up my apartment! You even brought them outside and help me load them in my car in the pouring down rain, you kindness was appreciated more than you know.

Dear crazy Tennessee weather, WHAT THE HECK?! 49 degrees on my way to work this morning was definitely not what I expected in the middle of MAY!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Finally catching up!!

It's time to play catch up since someone keeps telling me I haven't blogged in awhile (ahem...Ethan)
This past weekend Matthew's older brother, Andrew, graduated from Tennessee Tech with his masters in mechanical engineering, so last week was his last week in Cookeville so we tried to all hang out as much as possible.

Last Sunday night Andrew was preparing and practicing his big presentation for Monday morning. Matthew, Ethan and I all went to dinner after church and then went back to the SOC house to listen to Andrew practice his presentation.

Monday night we had pancakes over at the SOC house as a study break for everyone taking finals
We played cornhole and sat around and talked.
I love this picture we took!! I just wish it was clear lol
 The crew!

Wednesday night before church we grilled out and celebrated Ethan's birthday at Matthew's apartment. Matthew and I had made his cake on Tuesday night, it was a four layer chocolate on chocolate cake aaaand it was leaning lol.

The crew!

After church Wednesday night we decided to all go eno on campus because the weather was PERFECT

Thursday afternoon Ethan headed off to vacation and we took Andrew out to dinner to celebrate his graduation. We didn't get a pic with him but I got pictures with my roommates!
Then we realized we were all wearing chaco's so this happened..
After dinner we all went back to our apartment and watched Frozen!

Friday night Matthew had 2 church league softball games and they won!!

Saturday was graduation day!!!! I woke up early and got ready so we could get over there to save our seats!!
We were there plenty of time before it started and since Ethan couldn't be there we sent him snap chats and videos..

We went to one of our favorite Italian places here in Cookeville and celebrated with lunch and cake!
I headed home after that to celebrate mother's day with my mom.
We had dinner at my house with some family as well and then Sunday after church we went to my mema's house and grilled out with them!

After that I picked Matthew up and we headed back to Cookeville! Matthew and Nathan loaded up Matthew's 2 couches he bought last semester and I am going to use them in my new apt!!
This is my last week in good ole apartment D but I am SO stinking excited about my new apartment!

This past week/weekend was definitely crazy busy and it doesn't look like it's slowing down anytime soon. Matthew started his summer class this morning, it is a CPA prep course. Lord willing by the end of August he will have taken and passed all 4 parts of the CPA. It is a very intense course, he will have an online lecture for 4 hours a day and then he is assigned 8+ hours of homework to have completed by the next day. It is going to be hard and a lot of work for him but it will definitely be worth it! I am SO proud of him!! This week I will be packing things up each night getting ready to move to my new apt and then Friday when I get off I am heading to Georgia for a mission trip with the SOC!

{May Goals}

May is one of my favorite months of the year! It's the month Matthew and I started dating, it's the beginning of summer and warmer days after a l-o-n-g cold winter and everything is just better in the sun, and we get a paid day off (thank the Lord)

I didn't do so well on my April goals other than drink more water!
So we'll move right on to my May goals!

-PACK, PACK, PACK and PACK some more.
I have literally packed nothing so far, I did however put my winter clothes up and bring out my summer clothes this past weekend. I have been buying things for my new apt and in both corners of my living room right now is big ole boxes. There is also a corner in Matthew's bedroom stacked high of things for my new apt.

-Celebrate FOUR years with Matthew
I honestly can't believe we have been dating almost 4 years but then again it feels like I have known him all my life. I could talk all day about how I have the most thoughtful boyfriend in the world, but y'all still just wouldn't get it. I am SO excited to celebrate our anniversary in a few weeks, I have been planning out a few little things so hopefully they will work out.

-Eat healthier, drink even more water
I feel like this is always on my list of goals and I always fail at it but I am determined to start eating better and not to eat out as much. Getting a new apt and being able to cook at the same place every night should help with this!

-Finish getting everything for my new apt.
Matthew made a list on Wunderlist for me, it included everything I needed for my new apt. We have been able to mark off A LOT so far and got everything for reasonable prices!!
I am SO excited to move into my new apt in a few days and get everything settled and organized!

-Start meal planning
For the whole week and actually follow it! Matthew and I will "meal plan" right now and then when it comes down to it we decide it would just be easier to grab something because it's Tech night and we can get that discount and eat it on the way to an intramural game or wherever we have to go that night. I REALLY want to start using my new crock pot I received at Christmas...I just took it out of the box. Plus if we cook dinner then we will have leftovers and I won't be stopping by Burger King on my lunch break 2+ times a week.

and because I don't like posts without pictures...this was last week at Matthew's last intramural softball game! They won the championship!! :)

 What are your May goals?

It's all coming together

Yesterday afternoon it was pouring down rain and storming like crazy and for some reason Matthew and I decided it would be a good idea to go shopping for the last few things for my new apartment.
We were driving down the road and it started hailing so we quickly pulled into a gas station to get my car out of the hail, it didn't last long and then we were on our way!

We went into Kmart just too look at the prices of their microwave & toaster ovens and then we walked by this beauty...
aaaaand it was on sale. I sat my happy self down to see if I liked it and of course I did.

We looked at some of the other models they had out on the floor but this one was the one I wanted. Matthew looked this up on Amazon but it wasn't on there so we looked around to see if there were anymore in boxes out on the floor but there weren't anymore, so he then looked it up on their website. It was cheaper online (by this point I was convinced this table was mine) I looked up on Retail Me Not for any promo codes and found one, so after all that it was pretty much a done deal. We ordered it right there and received a text later last night that it was ready for pick up!!

I am SO stinking excited to have a table to eat at in my new apartment! I also got my microwave, toaster oven and plate sets last night. Nothing fancy but it's perfect for my apartment!
My end tables arrived yesterday and my coffee table should be arriving soon! We found them on Amazon. They are white (look a little gray in the pictures below) and from Ikea!

Everything is finally coming together and it's getting SO close to moving day!
