Entryway Ideas

Every since we got the keys to our apartment I have been dying to decorate.
The Lord is teaching me patience on this one :)
While Matthew has been baching it up at our place until I move in after we are married I have been searching Pinterest and blogs for decor ideas. One thing I really want to do is add a console table in our "entryway". Matthew liked the idea of it and is on board with it, too!  We don't really have an entryway because this is a one bedroom apartment but there is plenty of room for a console table.

I would love to have somewhere for us to drop our keys, phones, and mail all in one place when we come in, and make it easy to find these items on our way out. I also thought the idea of a mirror above the table on the wall would be cute and helpful. Last minute mirror checks before heading out for the day! Its a huge blank wall so a mirror would go perfectly there!
If we add some cute decor to it and style it up a bit and I think it will really add to our living room as well.

Here is what it looks like now. It will go on the wall that the air freshener is on.
(I forgot to take a picture when I was there last so I had Matthew send me a picture this morning lol. Thanks, babe!)

and here is the mirror we bought last week at Kirkland's that I mentioned on Friday.
I just LOVE it and love it even more that is was 50% off!

Now here is the console table we picked out! We found it on Amazon for a really good price, and it will match the color of our living room furniture!!

So here is what we are thinking for our "entryway"

I am so excited and I've been looking at different ways to style it on Pinterest. There are so many cute ideas!

We also are wanting another one. Call us crazy but we love it!
This one would go in our dining area. We got the idea from the model apartment at our apartment complex when we did our first tour!
Here is the picture from the model apartment

and this is our dining area now. We are wanting to put it on that back wall (beside the back of the door) I think it will also really add to our dining area.

Here is the table we found on Amazon. It's black which will match out dining set perfectly!
Both console tables are cheaper on Amazon. I found them on other websites for $100+  than they are on Amazon. Gotta love good ole Amazon!

Here is what we are thinking for this one.  Just something simple, probably not as much on it as the picture below but something similar to this. We don't wan't it to look cluttered.

Above it we are going to add some of my antique plates we have left over after our wedding
Except they won't be plastic plates ;)
We'll only put up between 6-8 plates, depending on the sized of them because I don't want it to be too much.

And that's all the ideas we've been throwing around for console tables!
Do any of y'all have an entryway or did you make your own "entryway"?

It's all coming together

Yesterday afternoon it was pouring down rain and storming like crazy and for some reason Matthew and I decided it would be a good idea to go shopping for the last few things for my new apartment.
We were driving down the road and it started hailing so we quickly pulled into a gas station to get my car out of the hail, it didn't last long and then we were on our way!

We went into Kmart just too look at the prices of their microwave & toaster ovens and then we walked by this beauty...
aaaaand it was on sale. I sat my happy self down to see if I liked it and of course I did.

We looked at some of the other models they had out on the floor but this one was the one I wanted. Matthew looked this up on Amazon but it wasn't on there so we looked around to see if there were anymore in boxes out on the floor but there weren't anymore, so he then looked it up on their website. It was cheaper online (by this point I was convinced this table was mine) I looked up on Retail Me Not for any promo codes and found one, so after all that it was pretty much a done deal. We ordered it right there and received a text later last night that it was ready for pick up!!

I am SO stinking excited to have a table to eat at in my new apartment! I also got my microwave, toaster oven and plate sets last night. Nothing fancy but it's perfect for my apartment!
My end tables arrived yesterday and my coffee table should be arriving soon! We found them on Amazon. They are white (look a little gray in the pictures below) and from Ikea!

Everything is finally coming together and it's getting SO close to moving day!

New apartment ideas

I am so excited to move into my new apartment and I am counting down the days!
I already have most of the furniture and I am in the process of getting the rest of what I need. So many exciting things come with moving into my own apartment and one of them is decorating it and doing whatever I want with it. Here are a few ideas that I have so far

For the kitchen, I have always loved these corny little signs and I think it would make an adorable gallery wall

Also for the kitchen I found this and I am definitely doing this for just the kitchen! I have read tons of reviews for this and they said it comes off easily. This is perfect for renting an apartment and to add some color in small spaces.

LOVE this for my desk area in my room

Obviously my laundry room isn't going to be this big but I really like that shelf on top of the washer & dryer. Why not add more space to store stuff?

I absolutely LOVE this idea!! Perfect for a small space and I think it looks so cute
 (without the chains)
I love the look of floating shelves and think this is just perfect!

Some other different pins I like!

I've been shot

By Matthew's twin brother, Nathan, with a nerf gun.

Have you ever heard of the game Nerf assassin? Well my amazing boyfriend organized this fun game to play with the SOC a couple of weeks ago and it has been straight up CRAZY.
If you haven't here is a short version of how the game works:
I have a target that I am trying to find and "shoot"...
There is someone after me at the same time, though...
When I "shoot" my target their target becomes mine...
Get it? If not you can google it to find out more about it!

Anyways, it is a very fun game but I kid you not when you know someone is "after" you then you are paranoid and carry that Nerf gun with you EVERYWHERE, yes even restaurants and grocery stores. You can never be too cautious with this game!!

That game and a lot have other things have been going on these past couple of weeks and I just needed a break from blogging. Can't wait to catch you up on everything!!
With a lot of thought put into it I have decided it would be best if I just get an apartment by myself.
We looked and looked and finally found one that was acceptable to live in and I love it! It is so close to my work, town and the store. We went and looked at it last week and I love it. I have been on Pinterest almost everyday looking for different ideas to do with my new apt. This apt also comes with a decent size deck and I am loving it. Loving it so much that I already bought a patio set! Matthew and I were just walking through Wal-Mart the other day and saw it and loved it AND realized it was on sale. I about died. So now I have a huge box siting in my room at my current apt waiting to move it to my new one!

There are so many exciting things coming up. I am so blessed with the group of friends that I have and my family.
Tomorrow I'll recap my Easter weekend at home...

HAPPY MONDAY!

Christmas wreath with countdown

This week hasn't been off to the best start. When it rains it pours but I am determined to not let this get me down! It's the best time of the year and I am going to enjoy every second of it.

Saturday night I made spaghetti and Matthew took a break from studying and came over for dinner and a Christmas movie. Matthew, food and Christmas movie...three of my favorite things :)
After the movie Matthew went back to his apartment to study for the rest of the night and I was feeling crafty so I made a Christmas wreath for our front door, finally!

I have been looking on Pinterest for ideas and sadly I still can't get how to make the cute burlap ones or deco mesh. The last time I tried I about chucked it out the window a few times. I will learn how to make it though, maybe a goal for 2014?
Anyways, I picked up some tulle at Wal-Mart. A roll of red, a roll of white and a roll of green.
They were cheaper there than at Hobby Lobby where I had looked previously so I was pretty happy about that!
I didn't know what I was going to do with the tulle or how I was going to apply it to the wreath but I just started tying it and after doing a few it was turning out pretty cute!!
I just cut pieces long enough to tie, some were longer than others but that's okay I trimmed it after so they were all pretty even.
WARNING: Glitter will get EVERYWHERE. Have vacuum on stand by!!
This is a little time consuming but I was watching a Christmas movie and talking with friends so it didn't seem too long.
I didn't like the way the inside looked so I looked for something to hang in the middle. My roommate suggested hanging a stocking in the middle but I remembered I had bought a little chalkboard Christmas countdown at Target in their famous dollar section and put it in the middle
and it was PERFECT I tell ya!!

I love the way it turned out and fully plan on using it next year! I might even make my mom one for Christmas as well :)
I made this wreath for about $12. I don't know about y'all but I'm not about to spend much more than that for a wreath that gets to hang up for about a month. BOOM.
There are 15 days until Christmas now, these pictures were taken yesterday!

Linking up with Michaela and Cassie today!

Apartment bathroom makeover

It has been a work in progress but I am almost finished with our bathroom makeover in our apartment!!
I have all the big things finished and now I just want to add some fun prints to the wall.

Sadly I didn't take any before pictures
but I can describe to you what it was before...not much.
There were no shelves and a plastic pink shower curtain.

So I wanted to touch things up a little bit.
I went with these colors

So let me just show you how it looks now!!

The view when you first walk in
(sorry about the date stamp I forgot to take it off)
I found this adorable shower curtain at Target and it was on sale. It was the perfect color to go with the color scheme.

Our sink area, my side is the left. I saw the idea on Pinterest to put my hair dryer and wand in a book holder and then I got that cute pink container with gold polka dots at Target. Both of them from the dollar section in Target!

Matthew and Andrew added these three shelves that I purchased from Wal-Mart.
They were pretty cheap and just what I needed.

I love what they did to the bathroom and are perfect for extra storage!!

On the top and bottom shelf I had the two wicker baskets on the side

and put one longer one in the middle.

I fell IN love with these little baskets and bought the last 5 they had back in the summer.
I didn't know what I was going to use them for but I knew I wanted them, ha!
Well when I decided to put these shelves up I was trying to think of something to put on them and I dug these out of the closet. Couldn't think of anything else that would look better!!
and the last thing that was added was this shelf over the door for our towels and rags. Because I don't know about you but there is no room in my tiny apartment closet for my towels, way too many clothes for that!!
I saw this idea on Pinterest as well.

I can't believe I hadn't thought about this sooner than I did when I first moved in. Definitely comes in handy!

I painted this for the bathroom.
This saying has always been in my grandmothers bathroom and it was always so catchy. I thought it would be fun to add a piece from her home to mine.

Do you have any small bathroom ideas? I'd love to hear about them!!

Adding light to your closet- rope light.

In my apartment I have this long closet. There are two doors on each end and there is NO lighting inside the closet. When I first moved in I was a little shocked by that.
I have been thinking of different ways to add lighting so I can see in there.
On top of my dresser I have all my jewelry and recently I added a mirror to the inside of my closet door and I have been doing my makeup there. It is close to my window so I get a lot of natural light which I  L O V E.
Anyways back to the lighting...
I bought these touch lights at Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago and thought it would brighten things up in there...

No just no

obviously this was not enough light, not that I use my closet much at night but I do like to pick out my clothes and jewelry the night before so ya girl needs light!!!!

So I had these for about 2 weeks and then I saw some rope light at Wal-Mart and it was like a bell went off in my head, DUHH. Why haven't I thought of this sooner?!!

It came with hooks but there was no way I could hook it to the wall. So I just ran it across the door seal on the inside of my closet. There is nothing holding it there, it is just resting on top.

Very easy and only $12.99!! Woo hoo!
