WEEKENDING: SISTER EDITION

Friday afternoon after work I stopped by the store and picked up groceries and then headed home and got some last minute stuff done before I went and picked up my sisters. I was really excited for them to get there and to get our weekend started!

After we got back home we started on dinner since we were all pretty hungry. I decided we would make our own pizzas at home. Fun and easy!
They are the perfect size pizzas for them and they enjoyed making their own.

After dinner we started making our ice cream. I found a new recipe for no-churn ice cream and decided I would try it with the girlies there!
We made vanilla ice cream and added our own toppings. It actually turned out better than I thought and I am excited to try some other no-churn recipes now!
I'll share later this week the recipe and just how simple it was to make.

After making ice cream we made some cookies for that night, since the ice cream needed to freeze overnight, and watched a Disney movie. Matthew opted out of the Disney movie to finish up some work and to head to bed early....old man status ;) Just kidding, I couldn't even stay awake for the whole movie, ha!

I forgot the girls are used to sleeping in since they are still on summer break and don't really have a set routine, so I kept myself busy Saturday morning with some cleaning around the house and doing laundry until they woke up lol. They were OUT until around 9 lol.
I got cinnamon rolls to make for breakfast and they loved them! Funny story about the cinnamon rolls: I pulled the tube of cinnamon rolls out of the grocery bag and Matthew saw them and got really excited and was like "You got us cinnamon rolls?!?!?" and I said "Well they are for Saturday morning when the girls are here" and his shoulders dropped and he responded with "You never get me cinnamon rolls..." LOL so guess who will be buying cinnamon rolls more often now? ;) No worries though, Matthew enjoyed the cinnamon rolls Saturday morning with the girls!

After breakfast we cleaned up and got ready for a morning at the pool. We made a Sonic run to get some slushies at the pool...best idea ever! They talked me into getting a slushie with nerds in it like theirs and goodness, it was so good. I need to remember that from now on.
We got to the pool around 10:30 and had it to ourselves for at least 30 minutes...so great and the girls took advantage of the open pool and jumped in every 5 seconds lol.
We stayed at the pool for about 2 hours and left when it started getting crowded. We headed back to the house and showered and got ready for the rest of the day. Macy decided to do my hair lol.
After getting ready we watched Fuller House on Netflix and napped for a little bit....the sun and heat can wear two little girls out lol. After they woke up we played Fibbage with Matthew for a bit and finally ate some of our no-churn ice cream that we had made the night before!

Before my parents got there we took my neighbor, Ms. Colleen, some cookies and got to visit with her for a little bit. She LOVED seeing the girls!

My parents got there when we were applying our new mailbox decals! I will be sharing more about it tomorrow, but here is a peak at it for now....I LOVE IT!!

After applying the mailbox decals we headed off to dinner. We were going to take my family to a burger place on the lake, the one we ate at during our anniversary weekend, but got there and it was crazy crowded. So we headed back to our town and went to Cheddar's. After dinner we all came back to our house and hung around for a bit. My parents gave us our anniversary present, and we absolutely love it!! It's a beautiful cross with a Bible verse on it. It will look so good on our built-ins one day. They also got us a really sweet card and gift card to Chili's! Woo hoo date night!

Sunday we went to church and then to on of our favorite Mexican restaurants...they have an all you can eat buffet....pure greatness. After we were stuffed we headed home and took a small nap, and then woke up and went straight to work on cleaning out our garage. When we moved in back in January we just threw all of our big boxes in there and said we'd take care of them once it warmed up....well it's been warm and we have just been putting it off lol. We had mattress, treadmill, grill, tools, and tons of other big boxes in there. So we broke them down and stuffed them in our cars. We ended up making 4 trips altogether to the dump. I didn't take before and after pictures of our garage because it was just too much lol. We also took pictures of some stuff we want to sell. So hopefully we'll be listing those for sale this week, and finally get our garage back! We still have a lot of cleaning left, but getting all those boxes out was a huge step. After about 3 hours working on the garage we cleaned up and got ready for church. Right before church started our best friend, Ethan, text us and asked if he could stay the night with us and take him to the airport the next morning so he could fly down to Florida to his brother. So after church was over we met them at our house and then went to Sonic for a quick dinner! It was fun getting to hangout with him for a bit last night, and Matthew dropped him off at the airport bright and early this morning!

We had a full weekend, but were still able to get some rest- which was much needed! This was also the first weekend we've been home for the whole weekend lol. So nice!

Happy Monday, friends!

WEEKENDING

As soon as I hit 'publish' last Friday on my post telling about what we had planned for the weekend I got a text from my mom letting me know that they took my nanny to the ER because she was really sick. Funny how when we try to plan everything out, things come up and all your plans change. That's just how life goes sometimes, but the good news is that nanny is doing much better and should be going home this morning!!

As soon as we got off on Friday we headed to the hospital that my nanny was at to check on her. She was in a lot of pain and pretty loopy from a small procedure they had just finished up. She was in critical care so visiting hours were almost over after we got there. We went with my dad and sisters to get dinner, my mom stayed there with her. Samantha and Macy (my two youngest sisters) were full or energy and excited to tell us all about their week at school lol. Matthew and I were all ears!

Saturday morning my dad had to work and my mom went to the hospital as soon as visiting hours started so Matthew and I decided to take Sam and Macy out for some fun, since they were too young to visit our nanny in critical care. My other sister, Mady, was hanging out with her friends all day. We surprised them and took them to Go USA fun park. We played a round of mini golf, did the batting cages and played a game inside.
The weather was perfect, and we soaked up as much time outside as we could!
After Go USA we had lunch at the girls favorite place, CiCi's Pizza...Matthew and I haven't been to a Cici's in almost a year. After lunch we headed to the hospital for a bit so we could check in on nanny and drop the girls off with my dad, since he was off by then. Nanny was doing a little bit better by Saturday afternoon, but not where they wanted her to be.

We had plans to go to a get together at one of our friend's house from church that afternoon, but with everything going on we decided to cancel our plans. We ended up eating a quick dinner and running a few small errands before calling it a night. Sunday was family day at church and we really enjoyed it! We had regular service, class, and then a catered lunch and a 1:00 pm service. We had time after lunch to run home and change, and I was able to get some cleaning and laundry done before the 1:00 service started. We LOVE living so close to church!! There were A LOT of activities planned for the afternoon that we got to choose from. We chose 'Open mic night' at a members farm and it was a lot of fun. The weather was great, we had good food, and enjoyed listening to everyone perform.

This is the view from this families front yard....absolutely beautiful!!!

Also, while we were home I got to see my dad's peonies blooming. These are my favorite and he always saves me some each year!

Blogging? What's that??

Long time no blog...
Life has been spinning like crazy and I feel as if I never get time to sit down and blog, and when I do I choose sleep. Sorry, but it's true. I used to blog at work, I have an earlier schedule so I would blog as soon as I got there before we got really busy, well a little over a month ago they updated all of our computers with new software and it now block everything on the internet. Including things we needed on a daily basic so they had to go back in and reset some of the settings, unfortunately blogger didn't make the cut. I spent the first little bit of every morning when I first got to work to read your blogs and then write my post, but now I have to do it outside of work, and to be honest I don't know how y'all do it!! I have started multiple posts on here but got so tired I couldn't stay awake. Maybe one day I'll finish them and finally post them.

I WROTE THAT ^ OVER THREE WEEKS AGO.
Got tired. Saved it in my drafts and called it a night. Seriously how do y'all do this?? I know once the wedding is over I'll have more time and maybe can take a rainy Saturday afternoon to write up a couple of posts but goodness, right now there just isn't time.
So what have I been up to?
Well let's see...
-I have had two bridal showers so far. What a blessing our friends and family have been so far! Organizing, planning, crafting, cooking, and decorating. All of it has been SO overwhelming, but one thing is for sure- we are blessed with the best! They have showered us, prayed for us, and have been so generous with gifts and advice.

-I have been reading a lot! I have read two books some friends from church recommended..
His Needs, Her Needs by Williard F. Harley
and
Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs
His Needs, Her Needs was good, but my goodness, Love and Respect, it definitely was my favorite.
Seriously, I can't say enough good things about that book. I am hoping to do a post over it. If you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and read it ASAP. So many things in that book absolutely blew my mind and left me speechless. We aren't even married yet, but since reading that I have already noticed some positive changes in our relationship.
IT'S THAT GOOD!

-I went on a work mission trip with the SOC last week...my last SOC trip. Let's not even talk about my emotions after I dropped everyone off that rode with me, and I realized that. Such a fun trip, even though some of us had to come back early.

-My sister graduated high school. Yeah, I still can't believe I typed that out,
MY SISTER GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL. Keeping right on up with the crazy emotions, they were seriously all over the place. Happy/proud/sad/excited/freaking out...you name it.
Sometimes I still can't believe she is old enough to drive and have a debit card, but graduating high school? I just did that...four years ago. Time is flyin' y'all!
I really am proud of her! She worked so hard all through high school, especially her senior year, taking dual enrollment classes to get college credit, volunteering tons of hours, staying on top of her grades, and so much more. She is getting her first two years of college paid for thanks to the Tennessee Promise and then scholarships will kick in after that. We had a big graduation party at our house for her the weekend before and it may or may not have included a nacho bar. Heavenly.

-I've still been working out as much as I can, eating healthier options, and smaller portions. So far I have lost 18lbs. I'm not at my goal weight yet, but I still have time. Also, I am losing inches. At first I had only lost around 10lbs and kept getting so frustrated on why I wasn't losing more, but then I started trying on some clothes I hadn't worn in about two years and they fit SO good. Some were even a little loose (insert praise hands emoji here). I do have to say that is one of THE best feelings. I was literally down to about two pair of dress pants for work because all of my other ones wouldn't even zip up anymore and I refused to buy new ones (they are expensive!!) Now, they ALL fit again!! Even pants from high school fit....like I said...best feeling ever!
As crazy as it sounds, one of my favorite workouts is running bleachers at our football stadium.
We set goals on how many we want to run, 10 or 15 depending on time. We can usually finish them up in 20-30 minutes!! Add in a few sets of squats and calf raises and our workout is done in 40 minutes.

-We had our engagement pictures made!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously a day I have been dreaming of finally happened!! I was on cloud 9 all week because I knew we were having them made that weekend. I felt like we put it off for so long, because I wanted to loose weight, everything to turn pretty outside, and for good weather. We didn't send save the dates and we aren't sending any pictures with invitations so we didn't have a deadline, thank goodness!
We made some in Murfreesboro and then the rest in Cookeville. The weather was perfect and we had a good time...at least I think we did. I had a blast, Matthew on the other hand was totally out of his comfort zone but handled it all like a CHAMP! We may or may not have rewarded ourselves with Cookout after for over three hours of picture taking. HAAAAAY engagement pictures!
We have the ones we made in Murfreesboro back, but the ones from Cookeville we only have a sneak peak. I'm pretty sure I squealed for a solid 10 minutes when we got that and ran around the kitchen a few times, bless my parents soul. I'll be sharing those with y'all when we get them all back.

-One of my sweet friends from work got married at the beginning of May. We spent ALL last summer talking about her wedding, mine and Matthew's fall wedding (he had me convinced we weren't getting married until the fall), wedding crafts she could do, how crazy it is that she was finally getting married, and everything else. It made the work days go by faster and we loved chatting all through the day, we sat beside each other. So seeing her walk down the aisle to her groom literally almost made my heart burst out of my chest. She had it at her dream wedding venue she had wanted it at since she was a little girl, her dream wedding dress, and her best friends from elementary school standing beside her. She was glowing the whole afternoon, and the weather could not have been better. A dream I tell ya! They actually went to the same place we are going on our honeymoon!!

-My three best friends graduated from college. Another huge emotional rollercoaster over here. One of them found out she got her dream teaching job the Thursday before she graduated. She told me right after she found out I was on my lunch break and big ole alligator tears came pouring. I am so incredibly proud and excited for her. She has worked SO hard all through college. Making good grades while most of the time balancing two jobs. Honestly, I don't know how she did it. She had told us about the interviews coming up and We prayed and prayed for guidance and peace when it came time for the principals to make a decision and they called her! She is teaching 4th grade and will be getting her classroom this summer!! We are already brainstorming ideas on how to decorate it.
Fun fact: We met and became best friends in the fourth grade and she got to student teach with out fourth grade teacher! She had a huge impact on both of us and we made so many sweet memories in her class that year. Sarah, was definitely lucky to student teach with her!!
I know without any doubts she is going to be the best teacher. I get so overwhelmed thinking about all those precious kids that are going to come through her class over the years and how big of an impact she is going to have on them.

Okay, I think that is about it for now. Last Saturday afternoon was the first time in over a month I was able to sit down at home and relax for more than two hours at a time. Sweet sweet times, three hour nap and then some wedding crafting followed by hotdogs for dinner with my family around the fire.

If you made it through all of that, you.are.a.boss.
I am hoping to get back in the swing of things and blog regularly again, not making any promises though ;)

oh, and 57 DAYS UNTIL WE ARE MARRIED!

It was a fall weekend

It all started Thursday night of last week.
We had a pumpkin painting party after our singing at the SOC house. Someone from our church has a farm and always donates a bunch of pumpkins to us.

Friday night the SOC went to the corn maze! The weather was actually really nice. We had a good time and had a great turnout! Since it was so dark I didn't get any pictures.

Saturday morning I headed home for the rest of the weekend. I went to the pumpkin patch with my family. Tt was HOT...for October anyways. It was in the low 80's. It's kinda hard to dress in cute fall clothes when you feel like you are melting!!

Love all things fall...even cute little dirty pumpkins ;)
We ended the night with a warm fire and s'mores!

Matthew, his dad and brothers went to the Mississippi State game up in Kentucky this weekend with some friends for a guys weekend. State won and they had a good time! He was so excited to go and I'm really glad they won and had a good time!!

It has still been pretty warm but it should be cooling off and be in the 50's this weekend...joy.
This week is going to be busy but fun! We have Halloween activities going on tonight and Thursday night. I am so excited to dress up for the Halloween party this Thursday!!

This is the first weekend in a long time that we don't have plans, so I told Matthew I have a surprise date for him this Saturday afternoon/night. I am going to be giving him hints throughout the week! He HATES waiting and has already been asking a hundred questions. So cruel but so fun! HA!

Weekend recap: Girls night and home!

Friday night was our first girls night of the semester for the SOC, and the first girls night I was in charge of. I was a little stressed out but we ended up having a great turnout! A couple of weekends ago I went on a ladies retreat with our home congregation and we had a little class and painted this:
So, since I knew how to do it already I decided that's the painting they could do Friday night!
It was so fun seeing everyone add their own personal touches to their painting, I loved it!!

Matthew and I drove home late Friday night so that I could make it to my sister's last soccer game the next morning, bright and early at 8:00am :) Love watching them play sports!

Saturday afternoon Matthew and I drove to Nashville to meet the rest of the SOC at Sky High and dinner! We went there a couple of times earlier this year and love it! It was definitely crowded but we got some good cardio jumping in :)
It was a BUSY weekend but we had a good time with everyone!

Please look at this road and tell me it's not GORGEOUS?!
I can't wait to drive back down it in a couple of weeks when the leave are changing ;)
