I BELIEVE IN NASHVILLE

Yesterday morning images started coming out of the famous mural here in Nashville that had been vandalized over night. Not just vandalized but completely ruined, from different news articles that I have read it appears to be covered with a "tar-like sealant that will need to be scraped off".  I don't want to share any images of the mural as it is now, because that's probably what the person who did this wants, but if you want to read the story you can find it, here.

This month marked the 5 year anniversary of the iconic mural and they were planning on having a celebration for it on the 25th of this month, according to their blog, the mural will be repainted and ready for the celebration, but it just saddens me to know that someone would do this to such beautiful artwork. Someone took their own personal time and talent to paint that mural and it was destroyed in a matter of seconds by someone who has no appreciation, respect, or love for this town and that is just an absolute shame.

That mural is what we used to share the news on social media that Matthew accepted a job here in Nashville and that this city would become our new home.

Tons of famous people, tourist, and Nashvillians have had their picture taken in front of this mural and I'm excited to see that they will repaint it very soon!

Have you ever been to Nashville and had your picture taken in front of this mural? If you are planning a visit to Nashville soon check out this article and this article, they list all of the murals to see around downtown.

1 YEAR HOME ANNIVERSARY

A year ago yesterday marked a whole year of homeownership for the two of us. It has been one of our biggest adventures together and through it all, the fun times and the stressful times, it has been the best year and we are so thankful!

January 15, 2016, we signed the papers, got the keys and officially became homeowners. We rushed over and got a picture in front of our home and then headed straight to Jet's Pizza to pick up a pizza and a coke. It's a tradition we started when we moved into our apartment to get a pizza and eat it that night for dinner on the floor. It's a fun little tradition and we love it!

And now for some before and after!

Starting with our front door

Our entryway, we painted the walls (my dad did) and painted the interior of our front door.

Our dining room, we took the curtains down (the day we got the keys), primed and painted over the wallpaper, and spray painted the gold chandelier a rubbed oil bronze, and Matthew built a 10ft long farmhouse table!

Our kitchen, we upgraded the appliances, stripped wallpaper, and painted!

Our living room, we painted, bought new recliners, new rugs, and ran cords through the wall.

Matthew's study, we painted it and bought him a desk & chair and hung his CPA license on the wall.

All of our guest bedrooms looked the same when we moved in. We haven't painted any of them, but we did fill them with furniture!

Guest bath, painted it (same color as the kitchen!) and added a cabinet. The wallpaper was not coming off easy so I just painted over the wallpaper and that worked perfectly fine!

We have officially celebrated every holiday in our home and decorated for many different seasons!

Spring..

Summer...

July 4th...

Fall...

And finally, Christmas...

We love our house and we have LOVED making it our home over the past year! To see all home posts on social media search #TheCoatsHome. We also had the opportunity to host several dinner parties over the past year, and we enjoyed all of them and look forward to hosting many more. Too see all of our dinner party posts, check here.

PRINTING BY PROXY | ETSY REVIEW

When we received these Tennessee coasters in the mail I about had a fit! They are do darn cute and my Tennessee loving self was overjoyed. The sweet ladies over at PxP Nashville even sent me an extra set. So you can bet I was over the moon. We plan to keep a couple in our guest bedroom upstairs since it is a "tri-star" themed room, and the others will find their home in our living room for all our our guests to see. We absolutely LOVE them!

You can buy this set HERE.

They are made out of tumbled marble and each one has cork material on the back to avoid scratching up your furniture.
You can buy this set HERE. Also, they offer Chattanooga and Knoxville coasters, too!

It's never too early to start thinking about Christmas (166 days!!) or someone's birthday and these would make the perfect present! Seriously, these are going on our list of gifts to get some of our friends because I know how much they will love having a set of their own!

Here is another design that I absolutely LOVE.
You can buy them HERE.

And if you are a UT fan then these are for you!

-LISTS-

If you have been around here for any length of time then you know I'm an avid list maker. So I think it goes without saying how exciting these were to make. The other night Matthew and I finally sat down and made two lists out. We have been talking about doing this forever, and we finally remembered to write it all down. I guess you could call them bucket lists, since it's a long list and we don't have a timeline or deadline on them. These are just places we want to cross off over time. We have talked about making out a list of goals and places we want to visit before we have kids one day, but we haven't gotten to that list yet.

The first list is on restaurants that we want to try. Some are in Nashville and some are in our town we live in now. I'm sure we'll find more that we want to add to this list, but I am excited to cross some of these off this summer. There are all kinds of restaurants on that list. Some are small burger joints, some are popular tourist places, and some are the higher end steakhouses. A lot of places we won't even go to this year or probably even next year, but like I said, there are no deadlines for these lists.

The second list is our travel list. We divided it up into day trips and weekend trips. We both got really exited looking things up for these lists, and there are a ton of places we want to go and see over time. One thing we didn't add to this list are bigger vacations. Places that you can't really visit in just weekend, so we'll work on that list soon! It's exciting to think about and I get even more excited when I think about traveling to these places with Matthew. He really is the best friend I've ever had, and I love adventuring to new places with him.

So here are our lists...so far. I'm excited to cross things off and add more places as time goes on!

I found a lot of great idea on Pinterest, and you can see all those on my 'Travel' board and my 'Tennessee' board.

Are there any places we should add to this list? Send any and all suggestions our way!

Game Night

This past Friday night Matthew and I hosted our first game night ever at our place. We were super pumped and ready to see all of our friends again. We decided on tacos and cheese dip for dinner and found a few games that we could play.

We played Fibbage, that's the reason everyone is on their phones. It's a game that's played on your phone! We have played it before and loved it so we bought it to play that night. If you have never heard of it then I recommend trying it out, and it's less than $10!

Self timer at it's finest!

It was a great night and great start to our long weekend. We are hoping to make game night a monthly thing. Have you ever hosted a game night or attended one and played a really fun game? We are looking for new games to play at our future game nights, so feel free to share :)
