WEEKEND RECAP: FRIEND EDITION

Our weekend started with some pizza and Netflix as soon as work was over on Friday. Later that night I decided to get majority of the cleaning knocked out so I could focus on prepping the food and rooms for everyone to stay in once they got to our house.

Saturday I was awake by 5:30 because I was so excited for everyone to get there. I finished the last little bit of cleaning and then started on getting out sheets, blanket and pillows for everyone. Matthew pumped up the air mattresses and I put the other beds together, and made sure the guest bathroom was stocked and ready for our guests. I made these breakfast muffins and this bread for our breakfast on Sunday morning.
This was my first time making bread, and I don't know why but I was so nervous it wasn't going to turn out well. Since there was only a piece or two left I'll take it that everyone liked it and approved!
I knew we needed something quick and easy before since we would be headed out the door to church, and those were perfect for a quick breakfast! While those were baking I put this Caprese pasta salad
together and prepped our burger toppings. Matthew ran to our local butcher shop and got meat for the hamburgers, and hot dogs. Can I just say how nice is it to have a good butcher shop about 5 minutes away from where you live? Hello, fresh meat!

My sister came over for a little bit to bring us this adorable basket! She and my mom put together a "sunshine basket" for us since we had a rough week a little bit ago. Isn't it just too cute?! Everything from house products to some yellow golf balls for Matthew. Also, you can't really see them but the two small bowls by the loofah are SO cute. I should have made a separate picture of them. They are the perfect size and shade of yellow for summer coming up! I used them Saturday at dinner to serve lemons in for water.

Everyone got there Saturday afternoon and we all sat around talking and the boys played frisbee out back. I asked Rachel to make her delicious strawberry pies for us since the last time I tried to make it was such a huge fail. Matthew started the grill up and got started on the burgers and hot dogs and I got everything else ready to eat. I didn't get a picture of our dinner but just know there was a ton of food! With Rachel's pies and Sarah's cookies we were all stuffed. After dinner we got our jackets and headed to the game.

The weather was very chilly, like I was afraid of, but we bundled up and survived. ;) I think at one point it was around 45 degrees at the game...brrr!

After the game was over we came back to the house and played some games and then called it a night! Rachel and Trisha took our guest room that has our old bed in it and all the guys got blow up mattresses. We had blow up mattresses in our other guest bedroom, dining room, and study. I should have taken a picture to look back on in the future when we have furniture in there lol.

We decided to go to late service at church on Sunday since there were so many of us that needed to get ready that morning. Here is our breakfast spread on Sunday morning, I did remember to take a picture of that!

Matthew and I haven't been to late service since we first got married so it was really weird going to church later than normal lol but it was good to see that group of people again.

After church was over we went to lunch at one of Matthew's favorite places...Wasabi. They have lunch prices on the weekends too, thank goodness! I made a panorama picture and they were moving so that's why a couple of them look a little funny lol. Matthew's arm is looking extra funny ;)

After lunch everyone headed home, and Matthew and I took a nap! We had such a good time with everyone and can't wait to have everyone over again!! I am already planning out our next weekend together. :)

WEEKENDING

Friday night we decided to have a lazy night. I was going to make a quick dinner, but Matthew had a craving for pizza so we ordered a pizza instead! No cooking or cleaning up from dinner? I wasn't complaining! We watched a new movie called The Big Short. It was very interesting and really made us think.

On Saturday Matthew had to work for a few hours that morning, so I got up soon after he left and cleaned the house. After being gone all last weekend and knowing the next few weekends we have a lot going on I decided to do some deep cleaning. I probably spent a little over 2 hours cleaning, working on laundry, and unpacking boxes. We have had some boxes in our bedroom that needed to be unpacked, but we just kept putting it off. It feels SO good having a clutter free room! We have a few ideas on how we want to decorate our bedroom, but we are taking our time! We did buy some curtains for our bedroom and for our living room this weekend though. Kirkland's was having a great sale and I had a gift card there so we took advantage of the sale and purchased them. We picked them out a couple of months ago but finally decided to get them. Also, Kirkland's lets you double coupons!! LOVE that! Here they are...

Saturday afternoon my family came over to take us out to eat for Matthew's birthday, and to bring us my old patio set. I had a patio set at my apartment in Cookeville but we didn't have room for it once we got married so my parents kept it at their house. When I gave it to them I told them we wouldn't need it anymore and that they could have it, not expecting to need outdoor furniture so soon lol. Thankfully they didn't really use it but kept it in good condition and were happy to give it back! Now we can have patio dinners once it finally warms up! We are so excited!
This picture was after dinner. My parents and Mady were in their car. You can tell by the look on Mathew's face how excited he was to be in a car full of girls lol.

Macy snapped this picture of us while I was touching up my makeup before dinner. She loves watching me do my makeup and always ask if she can have some "blush and mascara" lol I usually dab a little bit of blush on her cheeks to appease her makeup "needs" ;)

Our new neighbors have a daughter that's my sisters age so since my sisters were in town we invited her over and they decorated Easter cookies and played. They are all into gymnastics and dance so they have something in common and had a blast together. Her dad came over and chatted with us as well. They have lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years so he gives us all the history and exciting events that happen in our area. He told us about the neighborhood's spring yard sale. He said it's massive and they always have a good turn out. We are already looking forward to this!!

Sunday consisted of church, picking up groceries, homemade chicken noodle soup, not one, but 2 naps by the fire (we didn't have the heat on because it's going to warm back up this week, so it got pretty chilly yesterday), laundry, shopping for curtains, church, and blue coast for dinner!

I made Kelsey's chicken noodle soup and it was the perfect meal for a chilly 1st day of spring!

We have been on a Blue Coast kick here lately, we've gone there after church on Sunday nights the past few weeks. I've been getting so many punches on my punch card ;)

I am hoping this coming weekend is warmer than this past weekend, my Easter dress is sleeveless and I don't want to have to wear leggings with it lol. Happy Monday, friends! :)

From first wedding gift to flat tire

This past weekend was a fun one! I spent time with my family on Friday night. We went to dinner and then walked around the square! I absolutely love our little square in my hometown. During the summers they have the farmers market there, and in the winter it's where they place a huge Christmas tree and light it up. There are all kinds of events that take place up there and a ton of cute stores and restaurants on it. The weather was great so we enjoyed just walking around and talking

Saturday afternoon I went to a spring tea with Matthew's mom for his grandmother. She lives in an assisted living home and every year in the spring they have a spring tea for all the women there, and they get to invite female family members. This year was my fourth year going and I have really enjoyed them. I love seeing all the cute elderly ladies that live there get all excited and dressed up for it. All of the ladies that live there got to pick a rose out to take back with them to their room and she had me pick out which one I liked best. I chose pink because it matched my dress!

When I got to Matthew's house to meet his mom to go to the tea he told me we had a wedding present waiting for us to open...Our FIRST wedding present!!!!! How exciting!!!!!
We were so excited to open it that we didn't think about taking a picture so we went back and recreated opening our first present lol

The silverware we picked out! My aunt and uncle from Michigan sent them to us since they won't be able to make it down to the bridal shower, so sweet! We are so thankful for sweet and caring family members. What a fun first gift!! :)

Saturday night my family had our first cookout of the summer...there is nothing better than a good ole cookout with your family! Daddy grilled some delicious burgers and we had carrot cake for dessert...YUM!

Sunday after church I decided to run by Jimmy Johns and grab a salad wrap. I have been OBSESSED with these delicious things. SO good and SO much better for me than all that bread, even though Jimmy Johns has some of the best bread...period. We are having our engagement pictures taken ONE week from this Sunday so no bread for me these next two weeks!
Anyways, while I was there I must have ran over something because as soon as I pulled into my driveway my tire pressure light came on and advised me of low tire pressure. That has happened before so I honestly didn't think anything of it until I parked on our patio and got out. That's when I heard it and saw it, the air was definitely leaking out...quickly.

I went inside to get my dad and he came out and put the spare tire on for me. So handy, seriously he knew exactly what to do- good thing because I had NO idea. They should teach that in high school or something.

After he put the spare tire on we looked on the old tire and found what I ran over...
We have no idea what that is other than a piece of sharp plastic...gross!

Daddy told me I couldn't go over 50 mph with the spare tire on. I didn't think it would be too hard until later that afternoon. We were on the way to church and we were on 840 which is a state hwy. The speed limit is 70. Matthew drove behind me with his flashers on but it was just too dangerous, and I knew it would be even worse driving on the actual interstate, at night, trying to get back to Cookeville. I called my mom and she met me and took my car and I took my dad's truck. He took my car to the shop on Monday morning for me so they could put a new tire on and I drove his truck and came home on Monday afternoon to switch back. I am so thankful for my parents!! They helped me a lot and I really appreciated it!!

Friday Ramblings

Happy Friday!
Since I have a lot to share I'll share in list form
- Tonight I am going with the SOC to The Cumberland Caverns for a singing. I haven't been there since I was in the 5th grade so I am excited to go and see it again. Even better, a singing night, if y'all have been around here then you KNOW singing nights are my favorite.
Singing in a cave...can y'all imagine how that's going to sound?!
Here are some pictures I found online of Cumberland Caverns
- We are going Saturday to pick out the groomsmen suits! Well, we already have them picked out we are just going to get them. They are on sale at Men's Warehouse so they are getting a pretty good deal!
- Matthew and I HAVE to get our passports this weekend. I don't know why we but we just keep forgetting about them.
- I am hoping to finalize our guest list by the end of next week, so I am going to work on it this weekend when I get some free time. I designed them and we are having them printed through Vistaprint and they are having a good sale going on. I have already priced them and with this sale we can get our invitations and RSVP for over $100 cheaper so we will be ordering them before this sale is over! Also,Vistaprint sends plain white envelopes for free!
-The weather this weekend is supposed to be really nice and I am so looking forward to that! Bring on that warmer weather and sunshine!!!!
- HAPPY 1ST DAY OF SPRING!!
Can't wait to break out my sandals and white pants :)
- Today is food day at work, and this months is a salad bar. I am a little too excited about this! Currently counting down the minutes until it's my lunch LOL
- P-Hood (what Matthew and I call it) or also known as Parenthood...we are obsessed!!
I remembered hearing a lot about it back in January when the finale aired so over the snow days I decided to start watching it. As of last night I am in the middle of season FOUR! It is so good and I got Matthew hooked on it, too! I usually can't get through an episode without tearing up lol
- Kirkland's...I can't stay out of that store!!!! We bought a mirror there this past week and it was on sale! I absolutely love it and can't wait to get it hung up! I'll share more on that next week! :)
Have a good weekend!!

It's beginning to feel like spring...

LOL JK.
Or at least I feel that's what mother nature is saying. Today's high is 64 and there is a winter storm warning in affect for tomorrow night ;)

OH WELL!
Just because it's not feeling like spring outside doesn't mean we can't act like it does, right?!
I made a trip to Kirkland's last Tuesday to do some browsing. Every since Matthew moved into our apartment I have been looking up different things on Pinterest and Kirkland's website to decorate.  Here lately I have been a little obsessed with Kirkland's!! Seriously, they have some of the cutest things, and I can usually find a coupon :)

Well about a month ago when we were picking up our lamps at the Kirkland's close to our apartment I spotted the prettiest spring wreath. It wasn't on sale and wasn't a price I was willing to pay so I went on. Well last week when I went to Kirkland's in Cookeville they had the same one, AND it was on sale!! I could not pass it up!

Here are the pictures from the website

When I went to see Matthew this past weekend I put it on our front door, and I forgot to take a picture so he sent me one this morning!

I remembered to take a picture of the doormat I told y'all about a couple of weeks ago, I just forgot to share it until now. It has Joshua 24:15 on it, which is one of Matthew's favorite verses. I love it!

Also, we bought lamps! I posted this picture on my Instagram back on Valentine's day weekend but here they are

They are perfect, add some color in the living room. We have dark furniture so I love how they look in there. Also, I peak at some of our new furniture. I can't wait to show y'all all of our new furniture!!!!
