REAGAN IS TWO!

Our Sweet girl turned TWO on September 1st.

Although it was a busy weekend we still made time for a quick birthday photo shoot with her pink birthday hat, and he got all the eggs, cheese and bacon flavored treats her little heart could desire.

We just adore our sweet furbaby and are so thankful she's in our life!

TRAVELING WITH A DOG | PACKING LIST

We don't live in the same town as any of our family, however, we are really lucky and live about 45 minutes from both of our parent's house. We go back "home" for the day or the whole weekend quite often to visit family and friends and having a bag packed and ready for Reagan helps us out so much...of course we take her with us!
I'll share what we keep in this bag at all times, what we add to it right before we walk out the door, and other travel necessities for our fluffy girl.

I like to keep things in her bag at all times so I'm not running around trying to pack a travel bag for her and ourselves.

| IN THE BAG AT ALL TIMES |
Having a dispenser with a leash clip comes in handy when you travel. I usually just make sure the dispenser has enough waste bags in it to get us through our trip and that's all I bring. If you wanted to be extra cautious, throw a new roll of waste bags in your bag.

- Ziplock bag with treats
Reagan is a fan or her treats and most definitely expects one when she comes back inside from using the bathroom.

We keep a cheap, small water and food bowl in her travel bag at all times. That way we don't have to remember to pack her set from the house.

- Extra collar and leash
Normally we use a harness on Reagan, but I like to keep an extra leash and collar in her bag, just in case one were to break while we were traveling.

- Baby Wipes
Baby wipes for muddy paws, to wipe her mouth if she were to get sick, etc.

- Toys
I like to keep 2-3 of Reagan's toys in her bag so that when we go somewhere she has them. If we go to someone's house for the weekend and leave her in her travel crate while we go to dinner or out for an event, I like to put a toy that she is familiar with in her travel crate with her.

- Small Blanket
I keep a small blanket in her bag for the same reason as the toys. She lays on it in her travel crate and it's something she is familiar with. I have found these for around $5 or less at Wal-Mart

- Medication
If we are going on a long car trip, then I pack Reagan's car sickness medicine. If your dog has to take medicine, put enough for your trip in a ziplock bag and throw in your travel bag.

| WHAT WE ADD RIGHT BEFORE WE LEAVE |
I absolutely LOVE these containers and they are under $5! We keep dog food in this while we travel. It has never spilled and has always worked so well for us. Reagan doesn't not eat a lot, so as long as it's half way full, it will last us a weekend or for a long weekend trip.

- Harness and retractable leash

| OTHER TRAVEL NECESSITIES |
This crate is very similar to the one we have. It it very easy to put together and take down. It packs pretty flat, so I usually just keep it in the trunk of my car for when needed. Reagan is 8lbs, but we made sure to get the larger size travel crate so that she would have plenty of room to stretch out.

We got this for longer trips or for when I am driving solo. Reagan isn't a huge fan of it, as she would rather just sit in my lap (#spoiled), but it works well for when we need it. We especially like this one because it's tall enough where she can see out the window in the backseat while buckled in to it. Shout-out to my MIL for the recommendation on this one and the travel crate!

5 ON FRIDAY!

Happy Friday!

ONE | Last weekend we headed to Cookeville for our best friend's graduation weekend! We stayed the night with them and went to his graduation and graduation party after before heading back home. Such a fun weekend with friends in one of our favorite towns!
Rachel made this delicious strawberry cake for his graduation party and it was a hit!

TWO | Every spring I look forward to my dad's peonies blooming. The true sign that summer is coming!!

THREE | The weather has been so nice this week, so the other afternoon I took Reagan around town with me for some errands and a stop by a new park we discovered not too far from our house! We also made a stop by Sonic for some happy hour half price drinks (strawberry limeade for me and water for Reagan!)

Reagan takes flower shopping very seriously

FOUR | I picked up this cauliflower pizza crust at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago and decided to try it one night this week while Matthew was out of town on a business trip. After a couple of bites it ended up in the trash. I HATE throwing food away and wasting, but I just couldn't do it! So leftover Olive Garden bread sticks for dinner it was. #carbsforlife

FIVE | Recently we purchased a new flat top grill and we have been LOVING it! Matthew is a pro with it and has made us some delicious meals. Last weekend we had burgers and hibachi chicken and steak with friend rice. I kid you not, it tasted just like the hibachi grill we usually go to. So excited for cookouts this summer!

Picked up this yum yum sauce at Wal-Mart and it is so good!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mama's out there!

HALLOWEEN | 2017

We were a little more prepared for Halloween this year than last year, thank goodness! I picked up some candy the weekend before, and Matthew had a found the cutest candy dish a few weeks before that I decorated. We found Reagan's costume weeks ago (when you don't have kids, your puppy is your child lol) and I had been looking forward to dressing her up in it. She was ADORABLE.

I wrote 'Trick or Treat' on the candy dish and added spider webs on the sides.

Matthew left for Knoxville Sunday night, but ended up finishing the job early so he headed home around lunch time on Tuesday. I was pumped because he was getting home earlier than expected and it meant he could hand out candy with me! We had our favorite crock-pot recipe going, the candy ready, our chairs set up, and since it was cold this year, Matthew plugged in our small heater! I talked my sister into coming over after she got off so to pass out candy with us, too! I found the cutest Halloween apron at Pier 1 a few weeks ago to wear while handing out candy.
We ended up bringing blankets out because it got even colder!
We had a ton of adorable trick or treaters again this year, which always makes it so fun! My favorite this year was the little girl who was dressed up as a bumble bee. When she walked up and saw Reagan dressed up as a bumble bee she got really excited and started squealing lol it was adorable. We handed out candy for about 2 hours and then called it a night. We went inside for dessert and to watch Hocus Pocus!

Monday night I made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for a fun treat after we finished handing out candy, and my sister brought apple cider.

It really was the best way to end a fun night!

REAGAN'S BIRTHDAY PAWTY

September 1st was Reagan's 1st birthday, obviously we needed to go all out and throw her an unforgettable 1st birthday pawty! We knew we were going to be in Gatlinburg with our family so we ran by Three Dogs Bakery the day before we left to get pup cakes for Reagan's cousins. We also picked up a pink party hat at the bakery to match her pink dress we found on Amazon.

She and her cousin enjoyed their pup cakes after lunch while we were at the cabin over Labor Day Weekend!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY REAGAN!!!!!

REAGAN'S 1ST PUPPUCCINO

After 8 months, Reagan finally got her first puppuccino this past weekend.
Not so sure if she liked it or not, but I'll let you decide...

 Literally smiling...

 Definitely hated it...

And since it was free, it looks like we'll have to make this happen more often!

THE BAD HAIRCUT

Over the past few months Reagan has developed a habit of taking her paws and pushing the hair around her mouth into her mouth and chewing on it. So a couple of weeks ago when she had her next grooming appointment I asked our groomer to cut around her mouth shorter than we usually do. The groomer was on board with that and asked if we wanted it cut short like a poodle. I said, "sure, just cut it shorter than we usually do."
Side note: I was not a dog person before we adopted Reagan, so when they asked about grooming her like a poodle I had NO IDEA what that meant. No worries, I have about 42 pictures saved on my phone to show the groomer from now on to avoid anymore poodle haircuts.

So here is a little before, obviously she looked like a shih poo

and here is the after...I dropped off my shih poo and picked up a poodle!
They shaved her face and left her ears very full and floppy to ensure the poodle look was in full force.

I definitely was 100% shocked when I picked her up and may or may not have shed a few tears on my drive home...lol. Matthew was just as surprised, if not more, when he saw her for the first time, but reminded me that it's just hair and that it will grow back.

I think our girl was a little stressed by her new look as well...

Thankfully, it is already starting to grow back out, but I doubt she'll need her face groomed the rest of the summer.

Of course she is still adorable no matter what she looks like but what a shock!
