HILTON HEAD GIRLS TRIP | DAY 1 & 2

2 weeks ago we were beach bound. We left bright and early to make it there by lunch time. We made good timing and didn't have any trouble, thankfully! We left from Murfreesboro, ate breakfast in Chattanooga, and then stopped in Atlanta for gas.
Other than that we didn't stop anywhere else on the way there. We ate a later lunch at Dairy Queen soon after arriving in Hilton Head though.
None of us had been to South Carolina before so it was pretty exciting to visit a new place.
We checked into our hotel, changed, headed to lunch and then to the grocery store to get a few things for the long weekend. We got pop tarts, stuff for sandwiches, cokes and water.
After all that we headed to the beach! It was around 4 so we didn't get a whole lot of sun, but I think we all took a good nap lol.

After a few hours at the beach we packed up and headed back to the room to unload our stuff and to change into some comfy clothes. Our hotel came with two full size beds so I brought an air mattress to sleep on so we wouldn't be cramped. It was a tight fit but worked like a charm!
We stayed at this hotel and it was perfect for our time there! It was located right on the beach, came with two bike rentals, had a nice sit down restaurant and a tiki hut attached to it. The Tiki hut had live music at most times throughout the day and night and provided great entertainment. There were 4 volleyball courts right off the walk way, and a large pool.
Bad picture of the pool, but this was when we first got there. The pool wrapped around the other side of that small building to the left. They served concession type food and drinks out of there. One thing we LOVED about this area...the waitresses from the restaurant attached to the hotel would walk around the pool and take orders. So our last beach day we came up to the pool around lunch time and ordered lunch from our pool chairs. It was great, and the service was fast!

That afternoon we went walking down the beach for about a mile just checking it all out and drooling over some of the GORGEOUS beach houses.
Once it was dark we headed back up to our hotel and found out they play movies every night at the pool. Such a great idea.
Here is a picture of the tiki hut area, a little blurry.
We headed back to the room and all crashed pretty hard. Surprisingly we went to bed every night between 10-11. Which is weird for us as we always stay up late on vacations but not this time!

We woke up Friday morning and ate pop tarts and then headed out to the beach around 10. We got good seats and spent most of the day at the beach, towards the afternoon we came up to the pool and stayed there until it was time to go back to our room to change for the night. That afternoon Mady and Jordan rode bikes on the beach. Sarah. Kathleen, and I drove around to see what all was close to our hotel.
Our hotel was in a great location as we could walk/ride our bike to pretty much everything!  We found a cute shopping center and checked it out. They had a dance off that night in the middle of the outdoor area and it was funny watching the kids dance. We also found a good ice cream place!
We all met back up on the volleyball courts and they girls played volleyball. I sat that one out so I didn't get sand in my eyes and mess up my contacts lol. Mady and Jordan found starfish on their bike ride that night too!!
And that was our first two days! We watched shark week on Netflix almost every night and sat around and talked a good bit. We rented our bikes through Hilton Head Bicycle Company from the recommendation of Erin! I would definitely recommend them to anyone as well.

4TH OF JULY WEEKEND | 2016

Our weekend started early on Friday. Matthew had a half day and so did I. My company does this awesome thing called, "leave early days" and those days are always the day before a holiday. As long as all of our work is completed we can leave early and get a head start on our holiday. Have I mentioned before how much I love the company I work for? Because I do :)

Thursday night I decorated our front yard a little and our mailbox. My sister came over and stayed the night with us and helped me! My mom had some left over red, white, and blue mesh so she let me have it and I picked up the small bows at the Dollar Tree.
I tried to get a few pictures from different angles.
For just a couple of dollars, I was really pleased with how it turned out!
Speaking of mailboxes...I really want to get a vinyl sticker similar to this one for our mailbox. I love how classy it looks and of course I love personalizing stuff ;)
I found the small flags at Walmart and put out along out sidewalk and in front of our house. I also found the bows at Walmart to put on our planters. The flags were a little bit smaller than I wanted, but I waited until the last minute so they had to work lol.

We took a nap with Ellie as soon as we got home Friday (she was so tired and in a cuddling mood, so what Ellie wanted Ellie got!)  and then got up and packed for our long weekend in Murfreesboro with our families. We had been looking forward to this long weekend with everyone for a long time so we were really exited it was finally here! Friday night we ate dinner with Matthew's family and just relaxed for the night and caught up with everyone. Saturday morning we woke up and took it easy all morning. We had sandwiches for lunch since we had big plans for dinner.
Matthew's dad cooking the sandwiches on his new flat top grill.

Saturday after lunch we headed to my parents house to celebrate my nanny's birthday. Despite the heat it was a good time with everyone. We had to leave a little early to get dressed and ready in our costumes for our murder mystery dinner party we were going to! Matthew's parents hosted the best murder mystery party, EVER. We have never been to one before, but this was absolutely incredible. So incredible that it deserves a whole post, so come back later this week to see all about it. For now, here is a sneak peak!

Our characters were a spunky cheerleading coach and a S.W.A.T team member!
 The tablescape was absolutely beautiful!

Sunday we went to church and napped off and on. We love our Sunday naps! Monday we woke up and had a delicious breakfast that Matthew's dad made on the flat top. We got ready and headed to my parents house a little after lunch time for a July 4th cookout and fireworks. Thankfully the weather cooperated with us. It rained really hard right before we ate and then started raining again as we were finishing up fireworks. My dad shot the fireworks and it was a good show. My parents neighbors also shot some fireworks and we got to see them, too! We pulled in our driveway last night a little after 10pm and was excited to get back into our routine.
We love long holiday weekends, especially with family! This was our 7th July 4th together. I just LOVE my handsome man!!

I have a lot of catching up to do this week, so come back to see recaps on our Hilton Head girls trip, the Murder Mystery Dinner party, and July goals.

ONE TINY HEART - ETSY REVIEW

Kristin over at One Tiny Heart sent me this festive patriotic banner and it's so cute! I love how simple it is, but yet still adds so much in our living room.

She makes banner for just about every occasion you can think of, too. As hard as it to believe that July is already here, fall is just around the corner. In fact I stopped by Hobby Lobby the other night and they are already putting fall stuff out. So it's never to late to start planning for your fall decorations! Here are a couple of my favorite fall banners that Kristin offers...

FRIDAY NO. 22

Happy Friday! Sorry for the radio silence around here. If you are following along on Snap chat (mrsshelbycoats) or Instagram (mrsshelbycoats) then you know I spent the end of last week and beginning of this week in Hilton Head, SC! I'll be sharing all about our trip next week, but for now here are a couple of pictures.

We got back from our trip on Monday afternoon and Matthew picked me and Ellie, my parents puppy, up to head home! My parents have been in Gatlinburg this week and we got to puppy sit for them...
And now for Ellie's sleeping pictures. She is 11 weeks old so she still gets really sleepy, really fast and will just fall asleep wherever she is. It's the cutest thing, and I'm pretty sure Matthew and I just sat and stared at her multiple times this past week lol.

Needless to say our puppy fever is at an all time high right now.

This weekend we are having my nanny's birthday and then going to a murder mystery dinner that my in-laws are hosting. We are SO excited about this murder mystery dinner, the theme is, "Bumped Off on Bourbon Street- a Mardi Gras Murder Mystery". We all have been assigned out characters already and we're dressing up like them, it's going to be so fun! I'm sure I'll be sharing it all on Snap chat. My MIL made these cute tickets for all of us, too.

This post is my 500th post! I started blogging at the end of 2012 but slacked off for a bit, and then picked it back up in 2013. I've had a few months here and there where this blog of mine got put on the back burner, but I have enjoyed it so much. I love this little space of mine, and get so much enjoyment out of this hobby. So if you are new here or have been following along for awhile now, thank YOU! I love reading your comments, emails, and even snap chats of y'all reading my blog!

I hope you all have a great 4th of July weekend!!
