FRIDAY VOL. 13

Matthew had his 6 month follow up with the ENT this morning to check and see how everything was looking from his sinus surgery back in September. The doctor said everything looks great and has healed the way it should have healed. Definitely a sigh of relief, and we are extremely grateful for the good report.

Have any of you ever heard of How Does She?? I follow them on Facebook, and literally every single day they are posting links to things that are on major sale. Their Facebook group is called How Does She SAVE. Literally everything from kids toys to makeup deals to name brand clothing items on sale.  Look them up when you get a chance!!

I was outside reading the other day while Reagan was playing and our neighbor was having his lawn mowed and Reagan could not figure out what in the world the poor lawn guy was doing lol. She kept barking and then running away when get came by our fence. She finally gave up and decided to watch him for the next 30 minutes from my lap

Who uses essential oils? I have been doing a TON of research on them, and after reading everything and talking to a few people I think I have decided to go with Young Living. I'll be ordering the starter kit soon, so send me all your tips and tricks!

We had some storms come through yesterday afternoon and in between the rain downpours the prettiest rainbow appeared.

I have been out of the blog world for a good bit this week, so I'm hoping to catch up this weekend! I have a couple of recipe posts and my "What I'm Loving" March edition coming next week, so maybe it won't be so quiet over here next week ;)

#DAYOFGIVING

I was going to write about something else today, but wanted to share this instead. Today is #DayofGiving for Jersey Mikes Subs. Today only, 100% of sales is going directly to different charities all across the country. Y'all that's crazy, 100%!!!!!! And it's an all day event, not just lunch or dinner...all.day.long. How awesome is that?! I don't really go to Jersey Mike's all that often because there isn't one close to my work, but I'll definitely be going today.

So here is the link, if you have one near you, go today and help out a local charity, and enjoy a good meal! The Jersey Mike's Sub shop that is close to us is donating to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Not only has Vanderbilt Children's Hospital helped my family over the years, but I know many families and friends that they have helped to. So Nashville friends reading this, this includes you too, Murfreesboro, Cookeville, and Smyrna friends, go get something and support Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital!!

#THECOATSHOME: MASTER BEDROOM PLANS

When it comes to decorating we always put our master bedroom last. We're the only ones who see it, so it has just never been at the top of our decorating/house updates list. We've been talking about how and when we want to decorate our bedroom a little lately, and we have both decided that we would like to invest in a nice bedroom suite. One that we will use for many, many years to come and one that is made of good quality, and unfortunately those have a pretty high price tag. So we've browsed around and have a good idea of what we want and know around what we need to save in order to purchase those items.

We actually bought curtains a few months ago to hang up in here but then changed our minds so those are going in our guest bedroom lol. We have a lot of room to work with in our master bedroom and we keep throwing around ideas of how we want to set everything up. Here is what our bedroom looks like right now.

I have always wanted to hang a wedding picture above our bed and then hang something smaller on either side. Well I finally pulled the trigger and ordered this picture for above our bed. We decided to go on and hang it where we will want it once our headboard is on our bed, so that's why it might look a little high right now lol. We decided to go with Keepsake because they do all of the work for you. You just upload your picture, pick your frame, and then place your order and they will deliver it right to your doorstep! It literally took me all of 10 minutes and it delivered super quick. They even have an app, which makes it even easier.
I chose the white gallery frame in the 24x16 and absolutely love it. The quality is fantastic and I could not be happier with it.

And here is what we have in mind when we do buy new furniture. We both love the cream furniture and that bed is just beautiful! I would love to find some mercury glass lamps for our bedside tables as well.

and here is one last picture of our room now, Reagan wanted to be in the picture ;)

Try Keepsake out for yourself (highly recommended!) and use code coats15 to get 15% off your order. You won't be disappointed!

WEEKEND RECAP

Friday night I tried out a new recipe that I'll be sharing later this week. It was a husband and best friend approved, so I'll be making it again! Before dinner Matthew and I sat out on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather, and it made me so excited for more nights out there together this spring/summer. Love this sweet man of mine!
Our best friend, Ethan, stayed the weekend with us, and Friday night after dinner we went to Hobby Lobby to pick up Matthew's frames that he had ordered a couple of weeks ago. They look so good and he got them up in his office this weekend and they look great! After Hobby Lobby we made a Dairy Queen run for some ice cream...because why not?? ;)

Saturday morning Matthew went to work, and Ethan had to run a few errands around town for the day, so Reagan and I slept in a little and then spent the rest of the morning outside. It was in the low 70's with a breeze and felt incredible! So Reagan played in the backyard all morning and I worked on our chalkboards, read, and ate an early lunch out on our patio. I knew we had storms coming early that afternoon so I wanted to spend as much time outside as we could. I even had all the windows open around the house to air it out and it was so nice!

After Matthew got home we all took a nap lol and then I woke up and worked on our big chalkboard that hangs in our kitchen. Reagan slept most of the afternoon, I guess playing outside all morning can wear a girl out! I forgot to take an after picture of this chalkboard but I used my new chalk markers on it that Rachel got me and I loved the new markers!! Has anyone ever used these markers? If not, get some! They are some of the best chalk markers that I have ever used...and I have tried a ton over the years.

Saturday afternoon Matthew and I got ready for date night! It was finally time for me to take Matthew out for a belated birthday date. I surprised him with a couples massage and dinner at one of our favorite places in town. It was a great night and we both agreed we need to get massages more often, ha!

It was a great weekend and I was sad to see it go, as usual ;)

FRIDAY VOL. 12

Spring is here and I have been enjoying afternoons out on the patio reading while Reagan plays and we wait for Matthew to get home from work! Fingers crossed the warmer weather is here to stay!!

Monday we welcomed spring with the perfect weather and by Wednesday it was back in the mid 50's. Thankfully it has warmed back up!

Tuesday afternoon we had some strong storms come through but they passed through pretty quickly. They did cause a lot of damage for some people, unfortunately. After work Tuesday I went to Murfreesboro to meet my best friends for dinner. We decided to try a new place in town that had just opened. We went to Puckett's for dinner and Hattie Jane's Creamery for dessert.
They were both really, really good and I told we need to go there together very soon.
I got their bbq and it was delicious.

Hattie Jane's Creamery was right next door to Puckett's so we just walked over. All of their ice cream is homemade in the store, and after about 3 different samples I finally decided on the "donut cream". Turns out they seep bits of donuts hole from one of my all time favorite donut places in Murfreesboro, Donut Country, into that ice cream...it was to die for!
It was a fun girls night with these two! It always makes me miss spending just about everyday with them when we were growing up. Thank goodness for our group message that we use just about everyday now!!

It's been one week since Reagan's surgery and I am more than happy to report that she is doing great and pretty much back to her normal self! We are still keeping her baby onesie on her when we aren't there during the day and during the night while we sleep, and so far it has worked! She still thinks that she can't go down the stairs in it lol so she'll just sit there and wait for me to bring her down...spoiled.
She ate her dinner on the patio last night because the weather was so nice! She would probably stay out there all night if she could, girl loves the backyard.

#THECOATSHOME: SPRAY PAINTING OUR CHANDELIER

When it comes to updating/upgrading things around our home we have to pick and choose where we want to splurge and where we want to save. Our light fixtures are on our list to upgrade in our home, but we also know that they are not cheap by any means. So in the meantime we decided to give our dining room chandelier a little update....

I forgot to take an closer picture of it before we took it down, but here is a picture of it. Basically, this is what it looked like before.

and here is a picture after we spray painted it and let it dry for a couple of days.

Total Cost: $7

Painters Tape - Already had on hand
Sandpaper - Already had on hand

We covered the entire thing in spray paint and then let it dry for 24 hours, and then went back in and spray painted a few areas that we missed the first time, and let it dry for 24 more hours before we hung it back up. The hardest part was taking it down and putting it back up, I left that to my dad and Matthew, ha!

HOMEMADE MEAT SAUCE | DINNER RECIPE

I have been looking for a new homemade spaghetti recipe and I finally found it! We all know homemade is better than store bought, and this recipe makes quite a bit for the two of us, so we can freeze it and use it later.

Homemade Meat Sauce

Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground Italian sausage
1 medium onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 tablespoons sugar
1½ teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and ground black pepper

Directions:
1. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, cook beef, sausage, and onion over medium heat until mostly browned, about 5 minutes. Drain if desired, and then stir in garlic.

2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add more salt to taste if desired.

*I actually let mine simmer for around an hour. The longer it simmers, the better...in my opinion ;)
You could also use this in Lasagna.

WEEKEND RECAP - REAGAN'S SURGERY

I am welcoming spring with open arms and temperatures in the high 70's!!

Thursday night we took Reagan to PetSmart to pick out a couple of toys and to buy an e-collar for after her surgery.

Friday morning I dropped her off bright and early at the vet's office, and they called around 10:45 and said she was out of surgery and did great. Matthew met me at the vet's office when we got off to pick her up and she was p-i-t-i-f-u-l. Poor girl was still very droopy from the anesthesia and was in a good bit of pain. She was not a fan of the cone and kept trying to push it off with her paws. She didn't want to lay down with the cone on and would just fall asleep standing up.

Since Matthew had to work Saturday morning, I decided to sleep downstairs with her Friday night, and around 2:00am she finally pushed her cone off with her paws so I pretty much held her the rest of the night so she wouldn't lick or scratch at her incision area. It was a long night for the both of us. I lost count of how many episodes of My Lottery Dream Home on HGTV I sleepily watched until the infomercials came on lol.

Saturday morning after her next dose of pain medicine she seemed to relax a little which meant we both could doze off for about 30 minutes at a time. Matthew got home from work and we took it easy the rest of the day. I was hoping to get some things around the house done this weekend, since I thought she would just lay around and sleep. but girl was in complete "hold me mode" so we got in a lot of (sleepy) down time this weekend, which was actually pretty nice.

Thankfully by Sunday afternoon she was feeling somewhat better and was actually able to play a little bit outside (just walk around and roll around in the grass on her back lol).

My MIL suggested that we buy a baby onesie and put it on her so she doesn't have to wear the cone and we wouldn't have to worry about her licking the incision area, and it worked! It was also pretty adorable and we could not stop laughing at how she looked in a baby onesie. When we first put it on her I guess she thought she couldn't move because she just laid there on her back with her paws in the air looking at us like we were crazy lol. She finally got the hang of it though! It definitely helped her sleep through the night a little more compared the when she had to sleep with the cone on.

and that was pretty much our weekend! I only left the house to pick up groceries and church lol. Can't say that I was complaining about the down time too much, but we are more than ready for our girl to feel better again!

FRIDAY VOL. 11

I stopped by Kroger the other day to pick up a few groceries and saw these two adorable spring pieces...how cute?! Kroger for the win! I already had the eggs at home, those are from Hobby Lobby last year.

Reagan has been killing me with her head tilts lately!!!!
I just can't...I love her so much. Baby girl is getting spayed today, so prayers that all goes well and that she has a quick and pain free recovery!!

I made these small prints the other day for our guest bedrooms. Now I won't have to worry about remembering to tell guests the password when they stay over. I'm going to print them and put them in a frame on the bedside table in each room. Each guest bedroom has a theme: coastal, girl cave (my office), and a rustic Tennessee themed room.

President Trump was in Nashville Wednesday and we had been getting emails all week notifying us of all the road closures. Sadly we couldn't make it, but I wore my patriotic colors as if I were going lol. Well I left my office like normal not expecting to see anything, but as I was sitting in a ton of traffic, his motorcade passed right by me. I was on the phone with my dad and started fangirling, my dad thought someone rear ended me (bless him) from all the commotion going on. No wreck, just president Trump and about 80 police on motorcycles (and for some reason an ambulance??) taking over the whole entire interstate. It was pretty legit and then I did what every normal person would do, I called everyone I knew and told them I just met Trump. Kidding, kind of. And then I proceeded to sit in traffic for the rest of the afternoon.
Matthew got home late from work and I got home later than normal due to meeting the president ;) so we had a late dinner and watched Trump's speech live.

Happy Friday, friends!
