WEEKEND RECAP

Friday night I tried out a new recipe that I'll be sharing later this week. It was a husband and best friend approved, so I'll be making it again! Before dinner Matthew and I sat out on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather, and it made me so excited for more nights out there together this spring/summer. Love this sweet man of mine!
Our best friend, Ethan, stayed the weekend with us, and Friday night after dinner we went to Hobby Lobby to pick up Matthew's frames that he had ordered a couple of weeks ago. They look so good and he got them up in his office this weekend and they look great! After Hobby Lobby we made a Dairy Queen run for some ice cream...because why not?? ;)

Saturday morning Matthew went to work, and Ethan had to run a few errands around town for the day, so Reagan and I slept in a little and then spent the rest of the morning outside. It was in the low 70's with a breeze and felt incredible! So Reagan played in the backyard all morning and I worked on our chalkboards, read, and ate an early lunch out on our patio. I knew we had storms coming early that afternoon so I wanted to spend as much time outside as we could. I even had all the windows open around the house to air it out and it was so nice!

After Matthew got home we all took a nap lol and then I woke up and worked on our big chalkboard that hangs in our kitchen. Reagan slept most of the afternoon, I guess playing outside all morning can wear a girl out! I forgot to take an after picture of this chalkboard but I used my new chalk markers on it that Rachel got me and I loved the new markers!! Has anyone ever used these markers? If not, get some! They are some of the best chalk markers that I have ever used...and I have tried a ton over the years.

Saturday afternoon Matthew and I got ready for date night! It was finally time for me to take Matthew out for a belated birthday date. I surprised him with a couples massage and dinner at one of our favorite places in town. It was a great night and we both agreed we need to get massages more often, ha!

It was a great weekend and I was sad to see it go, as usual ;)

I CONFESS VII

I haven't had a confession post since back in December so I'd say it's about time for one!

I confess...Reagan is getting spayed this Friday and I'm already dreading dropping her off Friday morning.

I confess...I have also intentionally blocked off this weekend (& next weekend actually) from any plans so that I could stay home all weekend and take care of my girl! I also told Matthew that I wasn't cooking this weekend so pizza and take out it is...unless I find a crock pot meal that doesn't require a lot of time in the kitchen, ha!

I confess...Soon after we got Reagan we also got a camera that we set up so I could check on her throughout the day...I know, I'm crazy. It first started out because I wanted to see if she was actually going to the bathroom on the thing we bought for her, and then it turned into more of a way I could check on her throughout the day when I get a chance. I can just pull it up on my phone and see what she's doing at any given time, and I love it. Eye roll and judge all you want, but we like it and that's all that matters. :)

I confess...The idea of staying home all weekend and no plans makes me way too excited. After two weekends of being busy and away from the house I am more than thrilled to be staying home!

I confess...I pulled out our spring/Easter decorations about a week after Valentine's Day. I waited until March to put up our Easter egg wreath on our front door, but I love it.

I confess...I have had the biggest sweet tooth lately and it doesn't help that my office always has treats.

I confess...I went for my 6 month teeth cleaning check up last week and I have my first real cavity...not even going to lie, I was pretty bummed about it. It's probably the result of my previous confession.

I confess...The Easter dress I am going to buy, but haven't yet, dropped OVER $30 this past week!!!! I'm so glad I didn't purchase it last week lol.

I confess...Trump will be speaking in Nashville tonight and I'm sad we can't go. It doesn't matter what your political views are, I think it would be pretty cool to hear a president speak in our town. I'm also dreading the traffic I will be in when I get off. Still not sure what route I'm going to take to get home since both routes will more than likely be shut down all day :)

I confess...We had the fire going last night for the first time in over a month because it just hasn't been cold enough until this week. You know you live in Tennessee when you can't have the fire going on Christmas because it's 75 degrees, but you can on the first day of spring because it's cold!!

I confess...I bought some lavender essential oil a couple of weeks ago and I am OBSESSED. I usually have lavender going all day in my diffuser on my desk and in the evenings in our diffuser at home. We run peppermint oil while we sleep though!

I confess...I have the urge to make any and all kinds of crafts lately, but I don't want to buy any of the materials for it. So for now I'll just pin all the crafts I want to make and keep telling myself I need to get the items next time I'm at the store.

I confess...I am really wanting to get a headboard or some type of bed frame for our bedroom. Matthew and I both like different styles, but I think we have finally agreed on a couple of styles that we both like. Now we just need to find a good deal on one! Here are two that we both really like, this one and this one

FRIDAY VOL. 10

I picked up this foundation to try last night. I have heard and read great reviews on it, so I'm curious to see how it holds up throughout the day today. Has anyone ever tried it??
I also picked this frame up this week for our living room. We are wanting to do a very small gallery wall in our living room, and these frames give me all the heart eyes. I wouldn't really call it a gallery wall, but I don't know what else to call it lol but here are some examples of what we're going for...
I love the big frames and how simple this look or "gallery wall" is. Clean lines, simple and white frames! We've been talking about doing this for a few months and I'm excited to get started on it. The blank wall in our behind our couch has been driving me crazy. ;)

One of my favorite bloggers shared their kitchen on her blog this week and I am in love with every part of it....
The painted their islands in Waterscape by Sherwin Williams, which is the same color we painted our kitchen. I love that color and love the thought of it on a kitchen island!
Also, her birth story and video literally had me sobbing lol it was so good and the pictures were powerful!

TOMORROW IS THIS GUY'S BIRTHDAY!
We are celebrating with birthday brunch tomorrow with some friends and then I told Matthew the rest of the day is up to him, we can do whatever he wants to do! I have something planned for his birthday later this month, so we'll probably just keep it low-key this weekend and relax, which is exactly what he said he wanted to do.

SPRING SHOPPING

Do you ever have those moments where you're looking at clothes online and you just know? You just know all your money is about to be spent on them? You're all "oh, that's cute" and "yep. There it goes. Take all my money" and then you're all "no no, you need to be good and save your money" and "I mean do you really need that dress/shirt/pair of shoes?" and then you're all like "oh yes, they are on sale, come home to mama" Those were my exact thoughts last week while looking at some adorable spring clothes online. Darn you good deals and cute clothes!

WEEKEND RECAP

I have started picking our groceries up on Thursday afternoons to avoid all the Friday afternoon craziness. As I was unloading our groceries I realized we eat a lot of turkey. Anyone else eat turkey instead of ground beef?

Saturday morning I helped my FIL out with a conference downtown. It was a great event and
I got to meet a lot of new people! I also got to meet and have my picture taken with Scott Hamilton. All proceeds from the conference Saturday morning went to his foundation. If you haven't read his story, you can read it here. He is a very inspiring man

Saturday night we went to trivia night at my husbands elementary/high school! We had dinner from one of my local favorites and then it was trivia time. We didn't win, sadly, but it was a lot of fun!

Sunday we went to church and lunch with my in-laws and then headed over to my parents house for the afternoon. My sister is in the process of redoing her room and I am so excited to see it when she finishes! She is going with the rustic look and it's going to look adorable. She and my dad are going to build a small coffee table and end tables for her room.

Matthew's birthday is THIS Saturday so that means it is officially his BIRTHDAY WEEK!

FRIDAY VOL. 9

I am ready for spring/summer! And now that it's March we are getting excited about some outside projects that we want to tackle this summer. I'm going to share some of those projects today and some inspiration!

ONE | Build a deck

We have a fenced in yard, which we are extremely grateful for, and Reagan LOVES being outside. Usually every afternoon (when it's warm and not raining. If it's raining we are out there and back in the house very quickly lol) when I get home I let her out in the backyard to go to the bathroom and to play while I get dinner started. I know that once the weather starts warming up we'll want to eat dinner out here + stay outside in the evenings while she plays. Right now we just have a big slab of concrete, and it's not the prettiest. We think the previous owners tried to paint it and it was a failed project because it looks awful lol. So last year I thought about painting it but never got around to it. I think this year we have decided to build a deck over it. Something very simple, but big enough to entertain on it and enjoy summer evenings on. I ran the idea over my dad and he's 10000% on board, as this is right up his alley lol. So I think he and Matthew could definitely knock this project out in a Saturday and I can spend a Sunday afternoon staining it!
Here is what we're looking at...I love this tutorial and how simple it is.

TWO | Plant some flowers

We have two beautiful black planters that we bought last summer that I am excited to fill back up, but this year we want to add a few more plants. Different kinds/colors in different areas!

Here is what we're thinking
...I love this look So many bright and fun summer colors.

We have one tree in our front yard, and I would LOVE to do something like this around it

THREE | Paint our interior garage door and back door

We painted our front door the prettiest shade of blue, interior and exterior. Matthew and I both agree that painting the interior side of our front door was a great idea, so we thought it would be a good idea to paint the door that leads into our garage the same color. And since it doesn't take a lot of paint at all and I'm sure we'll still have some leftover, I think it would be fun to add some color to our back door (the exterior side) as well! Adding a pop of color to our doors by painting them is an inexpensive and fun way to give them a little upgrade.

FOUR | Paint our shutters

The last project isn't at the top of the list because it's not as important and if we don't get to it then it's not a big deal, but I would love to paint our shutters black. Right now they are a very faded dark gray, and I think the black would go really well with our front door. There are only 4 shutters so I think it would be a small and inexpensive upgrade as well.

Here's a picture of them on the day we got the keys to our house, it's the only good picture I have of them. They are actually the color our front door used to be.
