Since it won't take ALL day to decorate, since we live in a one bedroom apartment, we decided to stretch it out as much as possible with a few Christmas movies to make it an all day event. I am going to wake up early and get the sausage balls and hot chocolate going. We'll snack on sausage balls all morning and into the early afternoon while decorating and listening to Christmas music and Christmas movies.
Once everything is decorated I'll start dinner. I told Matthew I wanted to have a meal that we both like, and that I can cook every year on our decorating day, and of course his first response was Nashville's Hot Chicken Pasta. I'm not a fan of the hot chicken part, but I am more than okay with the fettuccine Alfredo part so I agreed! Matthew's mom found a copy cat recipe so we are going to use that! We already have some cookie dough so we'll have some warm chocolate chip cookies to eat later that night for dessert.
That night we'll alternate between the Egg Bowl (Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss) and the Predators game by our Christmas tree. To say I am excited would be an understatement. This is my favorite Saturday of the year, and I am so excited to finally share it with my sweet husband. I think traditions are so important, especially the ones your create in your first few years of marriage.
Do you and your husband have any Christmas traditions? If so, I would love to hear them!

This sounds like a fun tradition to start! My family has never decorated before Thanksgiving either because it is at my parents every year, so typically it starts on Saturday too! We are leaving on Sunday for our honeymoon, so I am not sure how much decorating will be going on, but I know we are AT LEAST going to buy our Christmas tree so that it will be waiting when we get home to decorate it! Eat a few extra sausage balls for me :)
ReplyDeleteAw this is so much fun!! It'll be a blast getting your first Christmas tree and decorating the apartment together! I can't wait to decorate our house on Saturday and Sunday :) We love watching Christmas movies at night and drinking hot chocolate. We also do a "mini" Christmas every year before Christmas since we travel to family for the actual day. Can't wait to see how beautiful your apartment is!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Dustin and I are going to sit down and make a Christmas bucket list of things we want to do this holiday season!

You will have a blast! I loved our first Christmas together being married! One of our traditions we started is on Christmas Eve, we get in our Christmas jammies, get some coffee or hot chocolate, and go look at Christmas lights! My family has done this since I was little and I loved carrying it over to my family as well :) Can't wait to see how pretty your decor looks!
ReplyDeleteDecorating for Christmas is one of my favorite things to do with Jared every year!!! :) Music playing, something delicious cooking in the crockpot and just having so much fun- I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteDecorating for Christmas is hands down the BEST thing to do as husband and wife. I always looked forward to it when we were dating and being married has only made Christmas time THAT much more special!!! :) last year we had the Frozen soundtrack blaring through the apartment. Gotta figure out what we're doing this year!! We always wait until the day after Thanksgiving, too!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh HOW FUN!!! What a special tradition to start with your new family! My hubby and I are still trying to figure out our own traditions, it's such an exciting time!
