VALENTINE'S DAY | 2018

Back tracking a little here, but we celebrated Valentine's Day the weekend before the 14th, and I am so glad we did. Fighting crowds and going downtown on a work night is not our ideal kind of date, ha!

Matthew planned Valentine's last year so it was my turn this year. I made reservations at The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown for dinner. Sadly, the service and food weren't as good as we were hoping for, but it was still a fun night out!

I saw a cotton candy limeade on the menu and was intrigued so I ordered it, and it literally came out with a puff of cotton candy on the straw! Definitely worth it.

It was a messy and rainy night, so instead of going to see a movie we went home and changed into comfy clothes and watched Parenthood. We're so predictable ;)

Valentine's Day landed on a Wednesday this year, so I decided to make one of The Pioneer Woman's 20 minute recipe, Bowtie Chicken Alfredo. It is one of our favorites for a quick meal!

aaaand then around 9:30 I woke up to Matthew standing over me taking a Snapchat lol. #noshame I was exhausted and could hardly keep my eyes open after 9:00pm.

Very low key Valentine's Day this year, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I am so lucky to have my sweet husband and adorable puppy!

ECLIPSE DAY 2017

Everyone's talking about it, so I'm sure some people are already over it, buuuuuut it was incredibly cool and a once-in-a-lifetime experience....so I am doing a full recap of our Eclipse Day!

We both decided to work from home since there were about 1.5 MILLION extra people making their way to Nashville for the day. Fighting all that traffic just didn't sound too appealing.

I woke up and cooked some omelets for breakfast and then we both got to work. My office is upstairs in our home and Matthew's office is downstairs, and Reagan could not decide who she wanted to hangout with so she hung out on the stairway between the two of us lol.

I wrapped up a conference call and ran outside with Matthew to view the initial contact. We downloaded a pretty cool app that had a timer on it and told us when everything was happening. Best $2 we've ever spent on an app!
After we saw the first initial contact happen we came back in and worked a little and would go back out and check every little bit until it was close to totality time.

After hearing a ton of horror stories online, I was pretty skeptical about the whole thing. I have awful vision already so I didn't want to ruin it anymore, but I did read that if you take a break from looking at it (with your glasses on, obviously) every few seconds then you would be okay. Fingers crossed that's true, ha!

Loved all of the filters for Eclipse Day!

And then it started getting darker!! We could hear the birds starting to chirp, crickets, our neighbors, and the timer counting down. When we hit full totality we heard a ton of people in our neighborhood cheering. It was one of the coolest experiences we have ever experienced.

So incredibly cool, literally, the temperature dropped and we stopped sweating for a full two minutes. Pure beauty right there.

The coolest day with the coolest (& cutest) guy, ever!

CHARLESTON 2017 | DAY 3

Finally getting around to posting about our last full day & favorite day in Charleston! I recapped day one here and day two here. Our last full day in Charleston was Tuesday, July 18th...which just so happens to be our anniversary! We spent the whole day at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens and there could not have been a better way to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary than in this beautiful place.

We got there soon after it opened Tuesday morning and we had only planned on spending a few hours there, but we ended up staying around 7 hours...and we still didn't get a chance to see everything. Guess that just means we'll have to go back to see the rest. ;) This is also a picture heavy post, but when you spend 7 hours in one of the prettiest places ever, that's perfectly okay!

We did the trolley tour of the whole plantation, a boat tour, a slave house tour, the petting zoo, and then walked through a couple of the gardens. There was a ton of wild life on the plantation. We saw everything from 12ft alligators to peacocks to deer.

If you look closely at the picture below that is Matthew walking in front of the house on his phone looking for me lol. He had gone to the restroom so I decided to walk around and explore/take pictures and he didn't spot me across the front lawn.

I had some serious porch envy.

There weren't many people on our boat tour so we were able to get up and walk around to see more. Our tour guide was hilarious and pointed out all the baby alligators as we passed them.

It's not everyday you get a kiss from a deer lol

I was highly obsessed with this bridge and it's surrounding areas...absolutely beautiful.

We had our anniversary picture made in front of this bridge as well. I love this little tradition we have started! Also, when we got up from sitting there we looked over and saw a really big alligator floating around. Pretty scary!

We ate dinner on the plantation and ended up taking it into the theater to watch some of the history on the plantation and to cool off, it was pretty hot that afternoon! After we left the plantation we headed back to our hotel to rest and change for our anniversary dinner.

After dinner we walked around Battery Park and then along some of the old historic houses. They are gorgeous and I loved everything about them.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped at a local place for some ice cream to end the night. We woke up bright and early the next morning, packed our stuff and headed to Callie's Little Hot Biscuit (thanks for the recommendation, Ashley!!) before hitting the road to head home.

WE LOVED CHARLESTON!
