FRIDAY NO. 34

The time has come!

We are picking up our puppy TODAY!! To say we are excited would be an understatement!!!! We have been looking forward to this day for over a month! Over the past month a few puppy things started trickling in here and there, and we have made a few PetSmart runs. Finally, on Wednesday night we set up the last little bit that we needed before we bring her home. I'm not going to share her name with y'all today, it's a surprise, but check back Monday for her name and a few hundred pictures of her.

Her crate, puppy playpen, and feeding dish...how adorable?! We have puppy things in our home, and the best part, they belong to our puppy!

I will be honest and say that we both kinda freaked out this week. We know getting a puppy means some big changes for us. We are so used to leaving the house whenever we want, for as long as we want. No responsibility whatsoever. When we first got married we talked about getting a puppy, but luckily we decided to wait. I'm so thankful we have had a little over a year just the two of us, without any responsibilities, and that we didn't jump into being puppy parents right after we got married. However, we've been preparing ourselves for the new responsibility that a new puppy brings and we are READY!!

If you have ever brought home a new puppy, I would love to hear your best advice!! On your mark, get set, GO! We can't wait to show off the new member of our little family!

  1. I can't wait to see all the pictures of this new family member! Having a new puppy is so much fun...Remember the first couple nights are the hardest because they are use to being with their siblings and snuggling with them. We have had many puppies over the years and my advise is...Don't let them sleep in your bed, ever, unless you don't mind it being a forever thing! Our dachshunds do and I love it, but once you start with them in your bed you won't have a choice. Also, as cute as it is to let them wonder around the house at first, don't take your eye off of them. You want to be aware of the potty signs so they don't find a favorite place to pee inside. Have a fun and exciting weekend!!!

  2. SO exciting!!! Having a new puppy is so much fun! The beginning is always the hardest, especially nights! Just remember, the more you play with/ exercise/ wear our the puppy, the more tired they will be at bed time, or when you have to leave! Keeping your dog stimulated will be one of the best things for you and the dog!
You should also look up "bell training!" It was our saving grace for potty training our puppy because we didn't have a doggy door for her! I have tons of dog mom/parent posts on my blog! I wish you the best and I can't wait to see lots of pictures!
