THE MARRIAGE DIARIES VOL. 12

My sweet, sweet husband, how has it already been one whole year of marriage? At times it feels like we've been married for years and years and at other times it seems like we just promised our lives to each other, cut the cake, threw the bouquet and garter and had a ribbon wand exit in front of all our family and friends. One of the many things I've learned in the past 12 months, is that I'm 100% uninterested in a life without you.

365 days of a husband and wife walking together in a covenant that has bound their hearts together as one in The Lord.

365 days of choosing and learning what it looks like to choose the other's interest above their own.

365 I love yous
365 goodnights
365 good mornings

I'm so lucky to be the one to love, honor, and cherish Matthew.

I honestly could not have imagined becoming Matthew's wife in any other dress. From the lace to the cap sleeves...my dress was an absolute dream come true.

365 days of wearing these precious rings.

365 days of laughing together
365 days of love
365 days of I'm sorrys
365 days of I forgive you

About this time last year, Matthew and I were getting ready with all of our best friends for our big day. The church was decorated and our family and friends were making the drive to one of our favorite places, Cookeville, to celebrate our sweet day with us.The pies were good. The party was fun. The pictures were made. And we were surrounded by tons of people who love us. It had been the best day (& hottest!) But July 18th is my favorite day ever because it's the day I became a wife to a truly great man. Being married to that man has been rich and abundant and beautiful and filled with joy. There have also been times that have challenged and refined us, humbled us and uncovered our deepest fears and hurts. I delight in the many ways we have grown in our first year, and yet I know that we have much more to learn about this profound and glorious covenant we walk in together. And I can't wait. You’ve blessed my life in more ways than you’ll ever know and your presence brings such joy to my heart. I love you, Matthew. Proud and thankful to be the one you chose. Happy FIRST Anniversary, my love!

FRIDAY NO. 24

Happy Friday, friends!!!! Just-a-wee-bit excited over here because we get a four day weekend and we are PUMPED. This week was a long one that I never thought would end, so I am hoping today flies by!

I posted this picture on Instagram the other day and mentioned it here, and I had a lot of question about it, and even a few emails. I looked at some Christmas binder ideas on Pinterest and then just put my own together since I can't justify paying for one on Etsy. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to share the printables I made so you can make you own Christmas binder.

We were out on a summer night drive the other day and got to see a beautiful sunset. We also found a really nice golf course really close to our house that Matthew is pretty excited about.
and this is what the sky looked like by time we got back home. So many pretty colors!

I found this comforter the other day at Target and just fell in love with it. I think it looks just like Rifle Paper Co. products and we all know how much I love all their products. Well I showed Matthew a picture of it and told him this would look great on the twin bed in my office, and that next time we are in Target we should check it out. We have a few Target gift cards left so we could just get it with one of those. Well my sweet husband surprised me with it earlier this week, and just as I expected, it looks SO good in there!!!! We had a navy comforter from Matthew's college apartment in there, but I think this one helps brighten up the room even more. He is the sweetest and I love the new comforter!!

We had plans to go to Murfreesboro and eat dinner with my in-laws last night so Matthew called me right as I was getting off and told me not to leave that he was going to pick me up and we could just head straight to their house. We absolutely LOVE riding to work together in the morning so any chance we get, we will carpool together! We envy those couples that work in the same office together and get to ride to work together lol. I finally got him to come up to my office and was able to give him a really quick tour of where I work before we headed to his parents house for dinner. He was probably telling me not to take a picture lol.

THE MARRIAGE DIARIES VOL. 11

I am really bad at keeping up with these, considering our 1 year is just days away. Oh well, playing catch up today!

Here we are getting so close to celebrating our one year anniversary. Our time hop and Facebook memories are constantly showing us memories from a year ago, and I can't help but look back and tear up. This time last year we were running around getting the last minute details finished up. And I mean last minute details....Matthew had our wedding programs printed off the day before our wedding :) We had decided we didn't want them but then at the last minute decided we did. So with some quick designing on my end and quick thinking on Matthew's end we had our programs printed and ready to be handed out. It's little details like that I don't want to forget about our sweet day, and the days leading up to it.

We are getting settled into our home even more now than ever. The end of this month will mark 6 months in our home. We have furniture in almost every room, and we have gotten quotes on the paint and built-ins that we are eager about. Once the paint is finished we will start hanging stuff on the walls, and I know once we get into all of that it will feel even more like ours. We have established great relationships with both of our neighbors and love our little neighborhood. We have hosted family and friends many times and look forward to many more events in our home.

We are in the middle of summer and I am loving every second of it! I know Matthew is more than ready for some cooler weather, but I am loving this summer. Last summer was SO fast paced and in all actuality revolved around wedding planning. It's so nice this summer to just come home to each other and watch a movie, do stuff around the house, run errands, or just go for a summer drive. Wedding planning was an extremely exciting time and I enjoyed every second of it, but I love the slower pace of life where we are in now. And savoring every moment, because I know life won't always be at the slow of a pace!

Sharing life and a last name with this guy is simply the best.

JULY | GOALS

I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this year is half way over. I know everyone always says this, but how is it already July?!

I am holding on to every single second of summer that I can!
Picture from our honeymoon. I can't wait until we are back on the beach...4 more months!

Here are my June goals...

1. Continue painting. Nope. Didn't even attempt this one again. My uncle is going to paint the rest of the house for us and I'm not even upset about this one!

2. Try 3 new meals.
Taco Bake - This one was 110% husband approved! I actually made this two weeks in a row lol.

3. Keep nails manicured. I did somewhat better on this one this month. In fact, I just painted them again last night!

4. Take advantage of our neighborhood pool!  I am checking this one off too. I've been down there a few times and we have gone night swimming with our best friends, Ethan and Rachel, quite a bit this summer!

5. Video Tour. I am hoping to do that this month lol.

6. Get ready for my girls trip and nail down all the details. We had the best trip! You can read all about Day 1 & 2!

1. Celebrate 365 days of sweet, sweet marriage with my handsome HUSBAND!
I can't even believe we are fixing to celebrate 1 whole year of marriage.

2. Have 1 year anniversary pictures made.
I am so excited about this! I bought my dress last night and can't wait to have these made.

3. Do a 6 months update on being in our home.
Crazy to think we've been in our house almost 6 months. We love our home and our neighborhood! We have changed a lot of things around our house and there is still a lot to do but we are taking it one day at a time.

4. Get a treadmill workout nailed down!
Matthew has been waking up and walking on the treadmill every morning this week so I might start walking on it as soon as I get home in the evenings.

5. Try 3 new recipes & share.

6. Create a Christmas binder.
I can kinda go on and mark this one off lol since I've been working on it for the past week or so, but I still have some printables I need to make/print off for my binder. I am determined to stay organized and ahead of Christmas this year, so I can really enjoy every minute of it and not be stressed out. I would say I did pretty good last year on this considering that our Christmas cards delivered before Halloween, ha! So I am hoping to keep it up again this year!

7. DO VIDEO TOUR.
Maybe one day this month I'll get to it lol.

8. Meet our new neighbors.
A family just moved across the street from us about 2 weeks ago and we need to get over there and meet them. I can't believe we haven't done that yet. Before we even closed on our house our sweet neighbors came over and introduced themselves and brought us cookies. It was a small gesture but made sure a huge impact on us, and reassured us about the neighborhood we were moving in to (not that we really needed it lol).

9. Go through drawers/closet and get rid of things we don't wear anymore.
We are taking off on Monday and Tuesday for our anniversary. At first we had planned on going on a small weekend trip somewhere, but then we realized we haven't had a full weekend at home with zero plans in over a month so we decided to just stay home. Staycation it is! We plan on doing things in our city (I do believe a couples massage is being scheduled!) and getting a lot of things done around the house. I am so excited I could cry.

10. Have my sisters over to spend the night.
My sister Mady has spent the night, but my two youngest sisters haven't and they are begging to, and I really want them to! I am hoping to plan a night at the end of this month for them to stay over before school starts back. So exciting!
