FRIDAY NO. 7

I feel like this week flew by and I am not complaining one bit!

I ordered this rug last night for our master bath and I am SO excited for them to come in! I went to Target last night because I saw online they had two left. Well I only found one and then realized it had a stain on it. So I just went home and ordered them lol. It turned out better because I saved an extra 10% by ordering them online. I did get to feel that one in Target and it's so soft.

-We may or may not have booked our 1 year anniversary trip recently... ;) I'll share more next week! I'm so excited!!

I had a dr. appt on Tuesday afternoon and it's pretty close to my sister and best friend's work so I stopped by and surprised them. It was fun getting to see where they work!

One of my co-workers left these on my desk yesterday since she knows they are one of my favorites. Such a sweet treat that made my Thursday!

We decided on paint colors for our house!!!! Eeeek! I'm really excited about this and I think it will look so good with all the natural light we have coming in. We wanted to go with neutral colors so we could add pops of color in with rugs/curtains, etc. Also, with using neutral colors we can change decor pieces over time and not have to worry about matching everything with the wall color. We are going with the Agreeable Gray for the walls and Pure White for the baseboards.

I made these pork chops last night and they turned out pretty good and were really easy to make! It was my first time making pork chops and it wasn't hard at all! Woo hoo for easy meals!
Follow me on Snapchat (shelbycoats) to see different meals that I make ;) I'll be sharing this recipe next week!

-This is our first weekend without any plans and I'm so happy I might cry. I plan on staying home and working on the house ALL day Saturday. I'm also hoping to have our windows raised a good bit this weekend because it's supposed to be in the 60's tomorrow and almost 70 on Sunday, woo hoo!

SEASONAL LABELS

Last week I shared my packing labels with y'all and this week I am going to share the seasonal labels I created. I made these to help me with organizing and labeling my storage totes in our house. I like to be able to find something rather quickly than having to search hours for it. I have all of our seasonal decorations in a guest bedroom closet in these storage totes, and having these labels visible on the appropriate box helps locating which box I need to get to easily.

MY WORK SPACE

Before I worked at my current job I worked in a small cubicle. I decorated it some but not too much, I did enjoy what I did have up though. I don't have any pictures of it but I decided to take a few picture of my work area now. So one day I can look back on it, and I thought it would be fun to share with y'all. I always like seeing other people's work spaces, call me noisy, but I find it interesting and love getting other ideas! Also, there are a ton of cute ideas on Pinterest!!

So here are a few pictures of my work space! I love my desk and the amount of space I have. It's an L shaped desk so plenty of work space.

I use this planner as my personal planner and I really like it. It's the perfect size and it fits in my purse when I'm not work. I used to be OBSESSED with Emily Ley's planners, I still love them, but the price and well the price just didn't make sense this year. I actually love my Day Designer (maybe even a little more) and I'm completely happy with it! I think I'll be using this one or one similar to this from now on. Very simple and $12 for a planner doesn't break the bank!! I use a basic monthly calendar for work that my work orders for us. I like to keep both of them out and on the left side of my desk so if something comes up through out the day (which something always does) that I need to write in one of them it's available.

I explained in this post about my Rifle Paper Co deskpad that I love! My tumbler is from Target's dollar section. It has gold stripes on it so it matches the rest of my desk accessories. I love it and refill it multiple times a day with water. Leaving it out and in sight helps remind me to drink a lot of water during the days. I have a stack of sticky notes for when I need to write down patient or client information and give to people. Having sticky notes out and ready to use comes in handy when I have lengthy patient/client calls.

All of my gold desk accessories came from Target except the the pencil holder. The pencil holder came from Hobby Lobby. I found it at the Hobby Lobby in Cookeville and haven't been able to find it at any other Hobby Lobby. All of the accessories from Target are still available though. I had the scissors and stapler but was missing the tape dispenser and Matthew found it on clearance one day and surprised me with it soon after I got my new job. It completed my collection and I love the way they look on my desk.
The gold picture frame is from our wedding. One each table at our reception we had two gold picture frames back to back. One with an engagement picture in it and one with a Bible verse or quote in it. I got these frames from Dollar Tree and LOVE them. I had to go to FOUR different Dollar Tree stores in three different towns to find all the ones that we needed but I found them and didn't mind the $1 price tag on them. We have these throughout our house and I love having this one on my desk. Using wedding decorations as house decor makes me so happy! I love seeing little pieces from our sweet day each day still. I usually wipe down my desk with a Lysol wipe on Fridays and sometime during the middle of the week to keep it clean and dust free (hello allergies). I make sure my desk and everything is completely clear when I leave on Fridays so I can come in on Mondays to a clean desk. I have found that helps get the week off to a good start and I'm more productive if I have a tidy work area.

That's it! I love finding gold pieces for my desk but I don't really have anymore room to add anything lol so I've had to pass up quite a few adorable pieces at Home Goods, but maybe one day I'll have a bigger work space and be able to get them ;) Do y'all decorate your work space? I love adding small personal touches to make it feel a little more "homey" and like my space. After all, I am there for 8 hours out of the day, might as well make it cute!!

WEEKEND RECAP

As usual our weekend flew by! By time Saturday night rolled around I was asking myself where did my weekend go?!

We had our first overnight guest at our house! My sister came down on Friday night when she got off and stayed through Saturday afternoon. We don't have furniture in our guest bedrooms yet so the blow up mattress had to do, and it worked just fine! Also, ignore the boxes in the back lol we're still unpacking!! We ordered pizza and had a lazy Friday night all watching TV. Then we decided to make an ice cream run. I tried the red velvet cake blizzard from Dairy Queen...sadly it was not good at all! Saturday we woke up and went shopping! Mady wanted to find some spring/summer tops and she found some cute ones at TJ Maxx! I didn't see anything I needed but we found a huge home store that I will definitely be going back to once we are settled at the house! CUTE decorations for such good prices!

If you remember from our house tour then there was a mirror above the fireplace the previous owners left. We have decided to mount the TV above the fire place so the mirror had to go. We got to looking at the and realized the previous owners had attached the mirror with some type of construction adhesive...AND painted around the mirror.

Matthew and his brother were able to get it off this weekend and thankfully the previous owners only used a small amount of adhesive and it didn't do too much damage to the drywall after taking it off.
So here is what it looks like now...we plan on painting soon and having built-ins put in on both sides of the fireplace, eventually.

Sorry for the awful quality picture but here is a picture of our EMPTY study and part of the dining room! These two rooms were FULL of boxes and just about everything else you can think of from our move. We kinda just dumped it all in there and planned on eventually getting to it. And this weekend we got it all upstairs into the guest bedrooms! Now we just have to unpack a few boxes and put stuff where it goes, but it all goes upstairs. It is finally out of sight and in it's place (room.) We hated walking in the door and that being the first thing we saw. So glad we got this done this weekend!! I plan on tackling one guest bedroom per weekend and really organizing everything as I unpack the boxes!

Sunday we went to church and then to lunch with friends from church. It was a gloomy day and rained off and on. I managed to get in about a 2 hour nap and paid for it last night lol. I always do that but I love my Sunday naps!!

FRIDAY NO.6

The weather today and this weekend is supposed to be pretty spring like and I am just crazy excited about it. I hate cold weather and would LOVE for it to be sunny and 75 year round with a few cold days. The sun was out most of the day yesterday and my drive when I got off of work was just a bright one, I loved it!

Have y'all read this story yet? I love seeing stories like this on my feed, especially when there is usually negative stories floating around a lot of the times. It also reminds me of when I chopped my hair off at the end of my senior year of high school. I let my hair grow out longer than I ever have and then donated 10 inches to Locks of Love.

I finally got a wireless keyboard and mouse at work, and it made my Thursday lol. It's the little things y'all!! I use my Rifle Paper Co. floral deskpad as a mouse pad and LOVE it! I don't think I'll ever use a regular mouse pad again. It's the perfect size and I can jot down notes on it if I need to. There are 52 tear off sheets, so one for each week. If I don't write on the sheet that week I just leave it there and don't tear it off. I love anything Rifle Paper Co. and this was the perfect piece!

Target's dollar section has a TON of cute spring decorations out. That is probably one of my biggest weaknesses. I may or may not have picked up a few cute things the other day after work... ;) I set them out before Matthew got home one night this week and wanted to see how long it would take him to notice. It took him until after dinner lol not long at all! Boy notices everything!!!!! THIS VIDEO IS OUR LIFE. Excuse the bad language, but I was in tears after watching it lol and then I watched it 10 more times. Matthew said it is me to a T.

We went to another Pred's game on Monday night and we lost. The past two games we have been to we've lost, and I've worn my new Pred's shirt to both games...I think it might be my bad luck Pred's shirt...oops! There were two really good fights though!!

3 CHEESE MEATBALL CASSEROLE - DINNER

I am always looking for new recipes and when I found this recipe I knew I wanted to try it. I changed mine up just a little bit though, but I think it still turned out pretty good! Matthew was confused as to why there weren't any noodles in it lol, but then I explained it was a meatball casserole. Of course if you wanted to, you could add noodles.

Ingredients:
- 1 bag of frozen meatballs
- 1 1/2 cans of pasta sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese
- Italian seasoning (to taste)
- Garlic powder (to taste)

Step 1: Cook your meatballs according to the package. I bought these at Walmart and it only took them about 25 minutes!

Step 2: Spread a thin layer of pasta sauce in a 3 quart casserole dish. I put a thin layer of cheddar cheese down and then add the meatballs.

Step 3: Add a thick layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Step 4: Add a layer of pasta sauce over cheese, and then add the rest of the meatballs.

Step 5: Add final layer of cheese.

Step 6: I added a little Italian seasoning and garlic powder with each layer and then added more on the very top.

Step 7: Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Just long enough for it to warm the inside and melt the cheese.

This was really good and there are definitely plenty of leftovers since it's just the two of us. We plan on using the leftovers to make meatball subs, and use the other half of that pasta sauce (since this only calls for 1 1/2 jars) to add on top of the subs. You could cook noodles to add to your leftovers, too!

PACKING LABELS

When we started packing up our apartment I knew I needing to keep everything organized to help with the move and unpacking at our house, so I made some packing labels! They were very helpful and it was so much easier on us and the movers. The movers just saw the labels and knew which room to take that box to. Not only were they helpful for the move but some are still being used. I have kept some of the labels on the boxes, and the others that aren't needed anymore I just threw away. They came off easily and didn't leave a mess, easy and smooth!
We bought these totes and these totes right after Christmas when they were on sale. We knew we would end up using them after the move to store decorations and other things so we jumped on the sale. These labels helped us so much (and still are) that I wanted to share them with you! Whether you are moving or just need to organize, I hope these help!

I just cut them in strips and they fit perfectly under packaging tape. I also color coded them. The pink are for the downstairs and the blue is for the upstairs. This worked for our house, but they may not apply to your home- color wise.

WEEKEND RECAP: VALENTINE'S DAY EDITION

We ended up deciding to go out for Valentine's Day and I'm glad we did. It's fun getting dressed up and going out with my man! We went to a new restaurant Friday night called Connors that just opened last week and it was SO GOOD. Matthew went to the one in Knoxville when he was on his business trip and really liked it so he wanted to take me to try it. Needless to say, it was the best steak I've ever had, and the atmosphere was great, too!

I found this dress last month on sale for $15 and just couldn't pass it up. I love the scallop style!

Matthew had to work Saturday morning so I went to my sister's championship basketball game and they won! Saturday afternoon we worked around the house. Unpacking boxes and cleaning out the garage so Matthew could park his car in there too. There were some cabinets left in the garage from the previous owner but they were in pretty bad shape so we took them down. There is so much more room without them!

Sunday morning Matthew woke up early and surprised me with breakfast in bed. The heart bacon was just too cute lol

We went to church and then met Matthew's parents for lunch and then spent the afternoon visiting with them. Sunday night we had crockpot cheesy chicken and rice! I love being able to come home to our meal already finished lol. Matthew wasn't a big fan of it, but I thought it was pretty good. Just a little tip- this is not like the cheesy chicken and rice you get at Mexican restaurants, but it is still good.

I carry your heart with me, I carry it in my heart. LOVE my sweet Valentine!

FRIDAY NO. 5

Woo hoo it's Friday!!!!! I have to admit,I have never wanted to be a teacher more than I have this past week lol. With off and on snow showers this week most schools were out this past Monday-Wednesday AND they get Monday off for President's Day...just a little jealous over here!

I know this is "old" news but every time I see someone post about Gilmore Girls on Netflix I get crazy excited!!! I used to watch Gilmore Girls everyday with my mom after school when I was younger. By time we got home from picking up my younger sister and unloading our stuff this was coming on at 4:00, and we would always watch it and then I would start my homework or studying after it was over. I have all seven seasons on DVD and LOVE watching them here and there!

This came up on our Facebook's this morning. THE best six years!

I have been trying to organize as we unpack, and we bought these for our pantry. We've only had them for a week and I LOVE THEM. They really are so helpful and fit perfectly.

I really, really, really LOVE walking out of work and seeing that it's still daylight. I hate when it gets dark early and I am counting down the days for summer.

Only 29 days until we change our clocks!!

I made this in the crockpot yesterday and it turned out really good! I know I've said this before, but I love my crockpot. A lot.

Hope you all have a great weekend! We are going out tonight for Valentine's since it falls on a Sunday this year, so tonight is date night!
