NEW YEARS WEEKEND RECAP | 2017

Our weekend was laid back, relaxing, and just what we needed to end the year! We decided to stay in again this NYE and it was definitely a good idea. I had planned on waking up on Saturday and taking down all the Christmas stuff, but I just wasn't ready to take it all down, so I decided to leave it up for one more day. Matthew had to study for a test for work most of the day, so Reagan and I watched Christmas movies all day by the fire. I stayed in my cozy Christmas pj's all day until later that afternoon when I showered and changed into new pj's lol. It was a really rainy and gloomy day so I took that as a sign to stay in and just relax.

Sleepy cuddles on Saturday morning

Matthew did run out and pick up our groceries for us Saturday afternoon and Reagan whined for him for at least 30 minutes. She was pitiful and missed her daddy! This picture makes me laugh every time I look at it, she was waiting on him to get back home.

We decided to get Chinese takeout for dinner on NYE and it was delicious! Most people we're out partying on NYE and then there was us...in our comfy clothes getting Chinese takeout...I wouldn't have it any other way!

We did, somehow,  manage to stay awake to watch the ball drop at midnight and toasted with some sparkling grape juice ;) Some people in our neighborhood shot off fireworks at midnight and they scared Reagan pretty bad. Poor girly was shaking, but that just meant extra cuddles before we fell asleep, and I wasn't complaining!

We went to church Sunday morning and then to Cheddar's for a quick lunch and then came back home and started taking down Christmas decorations. It was really depressing and I am already counting down the days until we can put it all back up. We took a nap and watched some TV before church Sunday night. After church we came straight back home and I got started on our New Years Day dinner.
Complete with ham, green beans, black eyed peas, garlic noodles and corn bread! It was delicious and I was happy to get our black eyed peas in this year instead of pinto beans like last year...

Thankfully, we both had Monday off so we took it easy again! We finished up Christmas decorations, deep cleaned, Matthew grilled a ton of chicken and pork chops, and our best friends, Ethan and Rachel came over. We hung out with them and made a quick trip to WalMart for a few things and ended up buying a new lamp for our living room. It was priced at $30 on the shelf, which was a good deal but when we checked out it was ringing up $60, after a little wait they gave it to us for $30 since that;s what was advertised on the shelf! We love it and it adds the perfect amount of light in our living room.

We entered back into the real world yesterday and it was a little rough, but we are thankful for a short week!! I hope you all had a great NYE and I am excited to catch up on your blogs over the next couple of days.

  1. What a wonderful NYE and New Years! Taking down the Christmas stuff is always so depressing. It was definitely hard coming back to the real world yesterday lol I accidentally bought too many bottles of sparkling grape juice so we're still trying to finish them off lol!

  3. I grew up with black eyed peas for our new years day dinner too. It was a tradition in my fathers family to also eat it with sauerkraut!
