WEEKEND RECAP: HUSBAND'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

I love celebrating birthdays and I love celebrating my man. So Tuesday night I decided to surprise him for dinner. There is a Chinese takeout place that is really close to our apartment we used to live in and we would stop there every few weeks for dinner and Matthew loved that place. It was cheap and good! That place isn't too far out of my way home now so I decided to stop there and pick it up for dinner to surprise him. I pulled our kitchen table out on the patio because we don't have a patio set yet and because the weather was INCREDIBLE! I broke out the fancy dishes and had it ready for him when he got home. He even got home before it was dark and I was pumped!! So we ate dinner and just sat outside and talked until well after it was dark. I love those good conversations over dinner.

I mentioned last week that our best friends were in town for spring break so I got with them and we decided to have a small surprise birthday dinner for Matthew on Thursday night.
Fun fact: I have NEVER been able to surprise him with a birthday party/dinner. He usually doesn't know what all is planned but he always figures out I'm up to something. He called me when he got off and I was running around trying to get dinner together and he could tell something was up...lol I'm a terrible liar. I haven't given up hope yet though lol I'll surprise him one day!

I found that cute "celebrate" banner in Target's dollar section a few weeks ago!
For dinner I made Three Cheese Italian Rigatoni Pie and it turned out really good! That is the perfect dish to make for a small dinner party. We had 5 people and there was only a little bit leftover that I took for lunch the next day.
For dessert I made cookie dough cheesecake,
Matthew LOVES cheesecake. His groomsmen cake at our wedding was a chocolate cheesecake lol. He loves his mom's cheesecake, although I haven't mastered her's yet, I wanted to make a cheesecake. I found a cookie dough cheese cake through one of the Tasty videos and decided to make it. It was pretty good, definitely not his mom's cheesecake but it was still good. The crust is cookie dough and then I dropped balls of cookie dough on top before I baked it.
We played a game and sat around and chatted for awhile before calling it a night. They all stayed the night and it was our first time having a group of people spend the night. It was so fun!!

Friday, on Matthew's actual birthday, we went home to Murfreesboro after we both got off for the weekend. We celebrated Matthew and Nathan's birthday and his parent's 30th wedding anniversary!

The reaction I got when I tried to make a picture of the birthday boys...#twins

Nathan got a drone for his birthday so we all went outside to watch him fly it. He attached his GoPro to it and it was pretty interesting!

Their birthday cake!

And of course we got a group picture, it was the first time we had all been together since Christmas!

We made dinner for his parents to celebrate their anniversary. The boys grilled steaks and we had grilled zucchini, carrots, and green beans! It was all delicious. There was a lot of commotion going on in the kitchen, but it was so fun!!

The steaks were SO good

Sunday we went to church at our home congregation and it was good to see everyone again! We came back to his parents house and had crockpot roast and it was delicious.

It was a fun weekend and I had a blast celebrating Matthew all week and into the weekend. It was also warm all weekend and it made me SO excited for summer!!!! :)

  3. The Chinese food and dinner outside is so sweet!! We've really got to find a good place near our new house lol That is too funny you can't surprise him - I'm so bad at that stuff too. My family always laughs at me because I unintentionally spoil everything! Your dinner looked delicious and that cheesecake has my mouth watering!
